Yep. Seems pretty easy to figure that out. But apparently over the head of the coaching staff I had no problem with that lineup. Mit fumbled away the winning shot - she's not exactly a sure-handed rebounder. Gardiner and Beers are also much quicker. Seeing those two plus Blacklock playing in the clutch was very encouraging. Hansford and Pietsch also got time but weren't effective. In general, I thought players earned their minutes tonight, and I can't say that about many games recently. Difference in the game up until the last few minutes was the atrocious start, but I wonder if Timea and Reagan simply aren't conditioned to playing heavy minutes, and the plan is for them to finish games - since that's exactly what they did. Neither player seemed unusually gassed to me. Beers should be in as top condition as she can be at this point. She seems to run the court, etc. just fine. Gardiner might struggle a bit more because her injury no doubt set her back as far as conditioning.

You mean it’s a good idea to have the tallest person in the gym in the game when you need a tip w a second left lol? Yep. Seems pretty easy to figure that out. But apparently over the head of the coaching staff No, this isn't as clear-cut as you all are making it out to be. Yes, Mit is 6-9. If you have the ability to station her a couple of feet from the basket with a clear path, she could probably tip it in. The problem is you're asking the least athletic player on the team to have the quickness to be able to beat an opposing player who has the inside position to the basket and then have the body control to tip the ball in without any wasted motion. Just no way Mit pulls it off. Rueck made the logical and correct call here.

Amazing ending. And man is Pili annoying Yes, she is. She schooled Jelena in the first half and got away with 3 seconds routinely.

Short of starting a rip session of Mannen, it was interesting that Rueck finally went away from her late (I don't believe she played in the OT). She did not have a good game. Five points, three fouls and three turnovers does not earn 26 minutes of playing time. They need to find a way to keep Beers on the floor longer. Yes, she had four fouls, but she had 11 points and nine rebounds in 16 minutes. Part of it is that Mit started playing really well in the second half. Part of it were the fouls, but she didn't get her fourth until the fourth quarter. Nice to see Blacklock and Hansford get some real time. Maybe they could have gotten some of Mannen's minutes tonight. But overall it seemed like Rueck had good player combinations on the floor for most of the game.

Gardiner played 33 minutes. As I said in my previous post, Beers played 16 and the four fouls, but the fourth came in the fourth. Mit's play was also a factor. But they need Beers on the floor more than 16 minutes.

Beers was one rebound short of a double double. She can produce and quickly. She Needs to start and I think AJ needs to also. Also I think Talia gets going when Beers and or Gardiner is on the floor.

That was a fun game to watch. At the beginning I really thought this was going to be another UW/WSU game where the better team was going to win, and that wasn't the Beav's.
But one thing this team has shown is that they never give up. May not be deadly at the end (sigh), but even when the other teams get large leads they just keep working at it.
Timea had her worst shooting game so far, but she was still +13 in the game. That's what a true competitor does, even on bad days they find ways to help the team!
This was the first game where Lily and Adlee both played and I thought Adlee did the better job defending. I think the coach agreed because Adlee ended up with more minutes.
Lex and Noelle did not have great games defensively. They both missed switches and left someone wide open at the three and that cost at least two made three's and I think three of them.
The team is back to slamming the ball into Mit instead of lobs that almost no one in women's college basketball could intercept. They were doing so well for a while.
Now lets see if they are too gassed out to beat Colorado!

Wasn’t able to watch the game (at another event) but tracked it on the espn page play-by-play. What a crazy ending. Can’t wait to watch the replay, although I’ll probably skip the first half.

This game made me happy because Rueck finally gave his better athletes (our young ones) more minutes. It took Adlee a few minutes to adjust, but Adlee did much better on defense in that 4th quarter. Adlee is a big guard, and is much more effective at the top of the zone than one of our smaller guards. Adlee is also an energizer when she makes those quick release 3's! My hope is that Rueck eventually comes around to starting Beers and/or Gardiner before the end of the season.
Refereeing would be a horrible job, but I saw so many missed traveling calls on UTAH in this game. This core group is going to be special over the next few seasons. Coach needs to sit a couple players, and give minutes to our young ones for the remainder of the season. No point in playing kids who are going to be riding the pine next season when our two PGs show up.
Raegan will learn how to stay out of foul trouble, but our opponent's flopping is just ridiculous. Need to adopt the men's rules on flopping in the women's game. Looking forward to the Colorado game. Last night in Gill was fun and loud. That was great to see that our fans are still with the team.
GO BEAVS!

Yes, I actually yelled at the TV "higher, throw it higher, you know better"

I love Timea's fearlessness, she and Raegan rarely look like freshman, not intimidated:

Clearly playing much better, however am I correct that they are pretty much guaranteed to have to win 4 games to win the PAC12 tournament?
If so, we all know that is virtually impossible.
So then what sort of record do they have to have before they can be sure they will get a berth in the NIT?
This team needs all the games they can get so they will be ready for next year.
Then as fans we need to hold our breath and hope (probably against all odds) that the "dreaded transfer portal" does not destroy our team.
Go Beavs!

The team is 11-11 right now with 7 regular season games to go. I think you need to win 4 of those to make the NIT with a 15-14 record (pre Pac 12 tourney). UCLA made the NIT last season with a .500 record.
As much as the Beavs have proven they can play with just about anyone, they would really need to finish strong. Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State at home, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Washington State on the road. Only Arizona State seems like a likely win. Can the Beavs find 3 more? I feel like you that the Beavs could really use those extra games to help prepare for next season.
As far as the portal, who knows? Alway scary. Perhaps this will be the year the Beavs have more wins in the portal than losses. I feel good about the core group sticking around.
