Does it make sense to play all man to man defense with bigger, slower players against smaller quicker players? Our bigger players were repeatedly pulled away from the basket leaving room for penetration by Cal.

I don't think you can look at the downward trend since 2014 and not come away with the fact that the problem is the head coach. Its not the caliber of player (other than a needed top notch point guard), it's not the assistants as the slide continues with different ones. There is only one thing constant in the last 9 years. Its just reality.

Boy that was an ugly loss. I like Scott Rueck, but I honestly cannot understand his coaching strategy this year. Beers played 13 mins, Gardiner 17 min, they are arguably your two best players and the future of the program, Aaron and Mannen had 25 mins and 35 mins respectively and produced 11 pts total, none of this makes any sense. His continued willingness to put lesser skilled players on the floor for prolonged periods is troubling and will continue to lead to results like today. Finally, I don't know what is going on with Talia, another poor performance with 37 mins of play time. I love our Beavs but man has this been a frustrating season when so many simple things could or should be done. GO BEAVS.

Since 2014 the beavs pac12 finish. 1st, 1st. 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 5th, 5th, 8th, currently 10th. Slip, slipping away. Different players. Different assistants. Same head coach. The record doesn't lie. Interesting. The last time I paid close attention to a PAC-12 Team's downward in-conference progression over time, it concerned a team that's just to the south of Corvallis - in a different sport. I'll confess that it was out of a morbid curiosity that I charted that particular downfall. The Coach was George Horton. It didn't end well.

I wonder when rueck looks in the mirror if he sees a great coach. Of course he does.

I will admit that I had become completely convinced that the addition of Gardiner and the Beavers' play against UO and Stanford had me convinced that the Beavers had turned a corner and were a much different (and better) team than they had been, despite the fact that I have lacked faith in Rueck's philosophy for a few years now. So yes, I was surprised that the Beavers botched yet another game. But I shouldn't have been. This loss not only reinforces what I think of Rueck, but I now believe he has become a major drag on the program. I feel sorry for the players but I won't blame them if they choose to leave.

Gardiner and Beers should both be playing 35 minutes a game. Mitrovic 20, Mannen 10.

I think people have tended to make too much out of Mannen's playing time, but Cal is not a good matchup for her and Rueck should know that.

Nothing I need to say about the short jokes. They speak for themselves to the seriousness of those posters’ critiques.
