He beat the ducks with a quarterback sneak, that’s good enough for me. Good luck and good health to him Same here. If he left OSU after that play he would still be a hero to me forever

Disappointed to see him leave, but in he end, after a lot of starts, he wasn’t going to be the guy to get us to the next level. Definitely worried about our depth, hopefully we’ll get an able transfer and the the young guys will grow fast. I actually think BG was a slightly better game manager who was less likely to make game killing mistakes (although the oregon game was a step backward). I liked Chance and wish him well, but taking off after your team goes 9 and 3 probably says more about what is happening in the locker room and the transfer portal era we live in.

A good scenario would be if the Beavers were able to land a good transfer QB who can start at least one season while Chiles develops (or Gulbranson makes significant strides).

I'm in the not surprised but that sucks category. As we know..... you need depth at all positions and Chance could have won the starting job back.
I give him respect for waiting until after the CW to announce.
I also respect him and take not of how his game improved from 2021 to 2022. Once a Beav always a Beav... he grew alot here and helped us win enough games to go bowling back to back.
Unfortunate he is moving on for us fans but I wish him the best and look forward to following his future success.

Like I said the other day: "I don't forsee Nolan AND Gulbranson returning next season." Unfortunately it was the wrong one...unless Nolan is injured far worse than has been indicated.
Again; we need at least one quality Xfer Portal QB this spring to push Gulbranson and Chiles lest the program backslide.

I thought it odd that the starting qb was not named a team captain, Says a lot,

IMO, a pretty stupid and impulsive decision by Nolan. What decent team is going to offer a roster slot to a turnover plagued QB with a confirmed case of the yips? If'd he'd acted a bit less petulantly, he'd have realized that he stood a far better shot at regaining the starter slot here at OSU next fall. I mean what did Gulbranson do last Saturday?? Complete a TOTAL of six passes??!!! Give me a break..... Doesn't have to be a "decent" team, just any team that is in need of an experienced P-5 starting QB. McMaryion went to Fresno and thrived. Del Rio went to Florida and won a starting job, and Kempt went to Iowa State and started. Now, Oregon State might be one of the best QB starved teams around, but if he thinks the staff prefers BG over him, then... Watch Chance go to Fresno and have a great year.... Tedford does well with QBs. Ya never know.

So I definitely won’t be calling anyone stupid, impulsive or petulant before the details come out. You do you though.

Not at all surprising. He has one year of eligibility left, and if he didn’t feel he’d be given a legitimate chance to win the starting job next year there is no reason to stick around. No guarantee he’ll start wherever he ends up, but if he at least feels he’ll be given a fair shot that is probably enough for him.
I wish him the best of luck.

Not sure why this is surprising to anyone? There was clearly more going on than just concussion protocol...I mean he hasn't even been on the sidelines. My guess is he was upset with how long he'd been kept out and just said f-it. Pure conjecture though obviously. Best of luck to him. I dunno I'm pretty surprised.....I mean I knew there was most likely more than a concussion going on but I did not expect him to transfer. If anything, I figured he'd be confident he could win back the starting job cuz BG did nothing to secure it, and in fact I'm mostly surprised that Gebbia didn't see the field.

He had a severe concussion, and was not cleared to play. End of story for this season. Going forward, he's not our guy and wasn't going to be our guy. Not sure that BG is either, but Nolan definitely wasn't. Thanks for your work at OSU, good luck in the future. Where he ends up will tell us a lot about how highly he's thought of. But why not? Not a ton of competition......I mean unless Chiles comes in and lights it up immediately.....the kid isn't on campus yet! He might never even be a Beaver!

My memory is fuzzy on this, but didn’t we have a guy who had to medically retire with us, he then transferred to a different team and was allowed to play? I think it was toward the end of the Riley years.
Chance could be doing something like that.

I think at one point I'd heard or read somewhere that Gebbia had a pretty darned serius hamstring injury, like tendon detached from bone type injury. I could be mixing him up with another athlete somewhere. Those type of surgeries they basically staple tendon to bone and hope they hold, it's not a fast recovery process. If that's the type he had I'm kinda amazed he got back on the field.

Not too hard to figure out that it was something else besides concussion protocol. - coaching staff would never give a clear explanation - concussion protocol never last 5 weeks - Chance requested not to play me so he would not lose a year of eligibility - Chance figured out that he was not going to be first string in the fall
