I was right behind Ben in the North end zone looking straight down that right sideline where he threw the first pick. It was not difficult to see the defenders he threw to; I saw them clearly, as did everyone around me. The first one was just an ill-advised, inaccurate throw. The second one, he apparently not only couldn't see the defender, he also couldn't see his TE breaking wide open in the flat. He was locked onto the receiver coming across the middle downfield, and the guy sitting in the zone underneath was all over it. From my vantage point, the defender who made the pick looked like Ben's intended receiver. Nix, BTW, made a similar throw right in front of me that Fisher just didn't make him pay for. I don't think anyone would argue that Nix just couldn't see him, what with the orange uniform and all. I personally don't think that Ben saw either defender. The first one was on the money, but he didn't see the defender underneath. It wasn't his TE on the second INT; it was his FB. And he was covered by Jeffrey Bassa, who made the interception. Tre'Shaun Harrison was also actually wide open. But Bassa was so late to get over on the FB that he accidentally drifted into BG's throwing lane. My point is that if Ben did not see either defender, it wasn't because of the green uniform; they were perfectly visible to everyone else. Likewise, I doubt Nix's failure to see Fisher was due to his orange jersey functioning as camoflauge. The first throw was not on the money. I had a perfect view right down that line behind him. He hooked the throw left back toward the middle of the field, which is why it was picked.

He had a severe concussion, and was not cleared to play. End of story for this season. Going forward, he's not our guy and wasn't going to be our guy. Not sure that BG is either, but Nolan definitely wasn't. Thanks for your work at OSU, good luck in the future. Where he ends up will tell us a lot about how highly he's thought of. Nope...you can't practice when you're in the concussion protocol. It's the neck.

Nolan was in concussion protocol but allowed to practice at a non-contact level, ie running, throwing, catching, etc. He was not cleared to play.

Every team has a return to progression process that includes 6 stages. OSU has a Sports Medicine Concussion Management Plan. There are 6 stages to return to full participation. The team physician and trainer is who monitors that. Nolan was in stage 4 if competing in drills and possibly stage 5 if it included any contact. They have actually had this in place for a number of years.

Nolan is gone. Good points in this debate but he is no longer a factor in a future planning. Need to look forward and just wish Nolan well (if he can even find a program FBS or FCS willing to take him out of a very large pool of portal QB's).

I was told here that he’ll get a $50-100k per year deal!

That depends on the school. Nolan was in concussion protocol but allowed to practice at a non-contact level, ie running, throwing, catching, etc. He was not cleared to play. That's called lawsuit. The neck was the issue, not the brains. Henry's correct if it indeed was a concussion as claimed. A player can potentially practice fully while on concussion protocol. There are a series of steps with evaluating in between according to the NCAA... Each NCAA student-athlete with concussion must undergo a supervised stepwise progression* management plan by a health care provider with expertise in concussion that specifies: Symptom-limited activity. Light aerobic exercise without resistance training. Sport-specific exercise and activity without head impact. Non-contact practice with progressive resistance training. Unrestricted training. Unrestricted return-to-sport. ** If it were strictly a neck thing it probably has different medical benchmarks, but with a concussion it is still possible to be able to be cleared for unrestricted practice (provided they have passed through the earlier steps) yet not be fully cleared for unrestricted return to play.
