Color me disappointed being deep at QB matters.

forgive me I don't link tweets but yeah. I guess the concussion protocol was not the only thing going on.

I sure hope Chiles is ready next year. BG scares the heck out of me after that gruesome civil war performance. Don’t forget about his potentially disastrous late goal line fumble besides two seemingly unforced picks

Don’t forget about his potentially disastrous late goal line fumble besides two seemingly unforced picks I'm with you but I also think he will be doing mental reps all off season and that in-game experience is what makes those reps pay dividends. Here's to hoping Chiles is all that and a bag of chips Id like him to redshirt and get a year under him.

Highly skilled/rated qb’s don’t normally red shirt anymore unfortunately. The schools know you don’t necessarily get to keep them all 4 years now due to the portal so they can’t afford to use one of the years not playing them

Beavs are not going into 2023 with a R-Soph, R-Frosh, R-Frosh, and Frosh as the only QBs. They have to pluck an experienced QB out of the portal.

I find it hard to believe he didn't think he'd be able to win the starting job back. What team is he going to go to that offers a better chance of success than the Beavers? I wonder if he's been told he can come back if there are no better opportunities out there. This just seems strange to me - I realize there's more behind the scenes but it's still puzzling.

Well, this certainly adds something to talk about while we're waiting for a bowl game...

Not sure why this is surprising to anyone? There was clearly more going on than just concussion protocol...I mean he hasn't even been on the sidelines. My guess is he was upset with how long he'd been kept out and just said f-it. Pure conjecture though obviously. Best of luck to him.

IMO, a pretty stupid and impulsive decision by Nolan. What decent team is going to offer a roster slot to a turnover plagued QB with a confirmed case of the yips?
If'd he'd acted a bit less petulantly, he'd have realized that he stood a far better shot at regaining the starter slot here at OSU next fall. I mean what did Gulbranson do last Saturday?? Complete a TOTAL of six passes??!!! Give me a break.....

Color me disappointed being deep at QB matters. I am not looking to talk down about any Beaver player... but this is not an overly massive loss. Nolan was okay. We was impressive at times last year but it did not appear to me he took a step forward in his game this year. Ultimately as a QB, he was pretty average. In a long list of stellar QBs Oregon State has had, Nolan is much more a Katz than he is a Mannion. Would it be better if he stayed? yes. Is he a competent and capable starting QB? yes. But he appeared to regress this year to me. Nolan was 66/111 (59.5%) for 939 yards, 7 TDs and 8 INTs in 5 games. 4 of those TDs came against Montana State. In 4 (and a quarter or so) games against FBS teams, Nolan was 47/88 (53.4%) for 663 yards 4 TDs and 8 INTs. Thats... not good. in the 7 games Gulbranson started (not counting Utah he came off the bench for injured Nolan) he was 94/150 (62.6%) for 1065 yards 8 TDs and 3 INTs. Obviously his Oregon game was ugly, and he and another pretty ugly 80 yard game against UW, which contributed to that loss... but he had some solid games as well. Bottom line, is that as a starter, Nolan was 3-1(1) and Gulbranson was 6-1(1) and both share the Utah L. Nolan started it, Gulbranson played more of it. It wasn't pretty when either were playing. If Chiles isn't day one ready as everyone things, I am voting Gulbranson as the starter over Nolan no matter what anyways.

Del Rio went to Florida and won a starting job, and Kempt went to Iowa State and started. Now, Oregon State might be one of the best QB starved teams around, but if he thinks the staff prefers BG over him, then...
