Selfishly I am stoked that Ferrer did not get drafted.

Selfishly I am stoked that Ferrer did not get drafted. He remains a free-agent possibility. I'd expect that to happen. But, I have no inside info.

2022 will be remembered for much talent, but the trip to Omaha was elusive. Kind of depressing but that's baseball. If that’s your idea of a depressing year, I’ll take it. It was a fun year. Lots of quality play and we clearly see that the program is in great hands. Did I say it was a depressing year? I wrote it was kind of depressing not getting to Omaha with so much talent. It was my expectation for this team. We were ranked in the top 5 for much of the season. I’m always dreaming about sitting behind their dugout and watching them dog-pile again like I did in 2018. They were a game away from getting their chance, but baseball is baseball. I’ll stand by my post.

8 Beavers drafted in 2022. I believe that may tie for the most drafted in a single year? 8 were selected in the 2006 MLB draft. No more than 7 in any draft since, I believe. I believe that the most ever are: 9 drafted in 2006: Buck, Gillespie, Gunderson, Nickerson, Graham, Kunda, McFeely, Canham (didn't sign), and Koller. 8 drafted in 2007: Kunz, Canham, Barney, Turpen, Stutes (didn't sign), Paterson, Maxwell, and Hopkins (didn't sign). 8 drafted in 2010: Waldron, Peavey, Sitton, Osich (didn't sign), Robles, Rhoderick, Romero, and Santos. 8 drafted in 2011: Susac, Gaviglio, Osich, Stamps, Berberet, Bell, Nygren, and Starr (didn't sign). 8 drafted in 2014: Conforto, Fry, Davis, Holmes (Wetzler), Schultz, Peterson, Keyes, and Hendrix (didn't sign). 8 drafted in 2022: Hjerpe, Melton, Boyd, Frisch, Meckler, Logan, Pfennigs, and Carpenter. Hjerpe is the highest-drafted player since Rutschman and the highest-drafted pitcher since Christman in 1993. 2022 Oregon State had three first-day picks, the most since 2018 (Madrigal, Larnach, and Grenier). 2022 Oregon State had six players drafted in the first 275 picks, the most ever. (2010 was closest with Kevin Rhoderick being drafted with pick 280.) 2022 Oregon State had eight players drafted in the first 20 rounds, the most ever. Aren’t you omitting Ellsbury in the 2007 draft?

There used to be a winter draft in January or February. I don't remember the rules at all. And saying I don't remember, but I think my community college, Umpqua, had eight guys drafted in 1982 or 1983. Umpqua was the best post high school team in Oregon for a year or two.
