So, any input on Meckler, Logan, Pfennigs, and Turley?Meckler - hard to image he'd be in a better position next year, after a great 2022 season, and with no option to play another year of college after June 2023. Logan - MP said that he thought that GL was returning (1-on-1 conversation with MP, after the draft); Again, hard to image he'd be in a better position next year with no option to play another year of college after June 2023. Pfennigs - a year (2023) as a successful Friday or Saturday Night guy at OSU could do wonders...but it's a gamble. He did not impress from 5/15/2022 to 6/11/22: 18 ip / 18 BB / 12 K / 15 hits. He was drafted 13th Round (394 overall) - Given his poor finish, I would not have been surprised had he not been drafted. As many have seen, Turley has posted on Twitter (following the draft): "Beavs!" (with 3 beaver emojis). Hopefully that means: "Welcome to Corvallis!"

My irrelevant observations and worthless opinion.
Reading the tea leaves, Turley had a red line at the 39th pick. Either he was drafted in the first 39 selections or he was going to be a Beaver.
This was a window of opportunity for Pfennigs - he's a development guy and sometimes that second opportunity doesn't come around.
Meckler and the Giants will break bread soon. He's a steal as an 8th rounder and his $159K slot shouldn't be an issue for either side. Maybe he's asking for a $million ?
Logan - sign now.

Logan's slot value is $167,300. Pfennigs' slot value is $125,000. Unless any of the three three goes in the top five rounds in 2023, none are likely to see anything close to that next year. If tens of thousands of dollars is not enough money to influence decisions, though, maybe one of the three comes back. Maybe the Giants, Diamondbacks, or Athletics will try and jerk someone around. Who knows? Wetzler turned down more money to come back for another year. He did not improve his position, though, and it exploded in his face, so maybe that's a terrible example. I am assuming that Turley is coming to Corvallis, unless the Diamondbacks are able to juggle enough money around to be able to provide Turley with first round money. And maybe that is what the holdup is with Logan. They are trying to jerk around Logan to try and get the money together to sign the five high schoolers that they are still chasing. Along with Turley, they also drafted high school recruits that committed to Arizona, Irvine, Jacksonville, and Washington.

Per BBA: Jake Pfennigs has signed for $125K. Good luck Jake Pfennigs! $125,000 [minus agent fees, if any, and taxes] for the privilege of riding buses in and out of Stockton CA or Beloit Wisconsin between now and 2024. If he does VERY well at those levels he could be in Vegas by 2025 (AAA)...or if he's spectacular, and MLB location factors sort themselves out, to Las Vegas (MLB) about then. My heart goes out to the non-elite prospects who accept their meager signing bonuses. At least they have a college education under their belt, and have options for their late-20's, 30's, 40's etc. And at least they got to be Beavs.

Most of them are currently paying a good chunk for going to school now. They’re trying to fulfill their dream. Very few make it, but we’ve had a couple that have committed then signed pro contracts and actually made it. Brandon Drury committed here, then signed in the 14th or so round and made it. He’s tearing it up for the Reds this year.

$10 million and the Golden Gate Bridge.
So, tell me he isn't worth that.
