Recruit Gavin Turley 19th round to Arizona Hoping they can get a hometown discount. The Dbacks suck. Pretty hapless organization.

8 Beavers drafted in 2022.
I believe that may tie for the most drafted in a single year?
8 were selected in the 2006 MLB draft. No more than 7 in any draft since, I believe.

The NWL is high A, neither of these guys will start their pro career there. Maybe next year. That's right, the NWL has reorganized. Forgot about that. Oh well, maybe next year? Do you know the signing deadline? August 1 is the signing deadline for non-seniors. Seniors can take longer to sign.

I believe that the most ever are: 9 drafted in 2006: Buck, Gillespie, Gunderson, Nickerson, Graham, Kunda, McFeely, Canham (didn't sign), and Koller. 8 drafted in 2007: Kunz, Canham, Barney, Turpen, Stutes (didn't sign), Paterson, Maxwell, and Hopkins (didn't sign). 8 drafted in 2010: Waldron, Peavey, Sitton, Osich (didn't sign), Robles, Rhoderick, Romero, and Santos. 8 drafted in 2011: Susac, Gaviglio, Osich, Stamps, Berberet, Bell, Nygren, and Starr (didn't sign). 8 drafted in 2014: Conforto, Fry, Davis, Holmes (Wetzler), Schultz, Peterson, Keyes, and Hendrix (didn't sign). 8 drafted in 2022: Hjerpe, Melton, Boyd, Frisch, Meckler, Logan, Pfennigs, and Carpenter. Hjerpe is the highest-drafted player since Rutschman and the highest-drafted pitcher since Christman in 1993. 2022 Oregon State had three first-day picks, the most since 2018 (Madrigal, Larnach, and Grenier). 2022 Oregon State had six players drafted in the first 275 picks, the most ever. (2010 was closest with Kevin Rhoderick being drafted with pick 280.) 2022 Oregon State had eight players drafted in the first 20 rounds, the most ever.

Kind of depressing but that's baseball.

No. He may not have even signed a free agent deal, if he stayed at Oregon State. He would not have seen the field nearly as much with Logan there. It probably worked out better for Claunch that he left. And it was probably nice that he was able to play with Yeskie his final year, and it was probably nice for Yeskie to get to coach him again. Not a terrible result all the way around. Still, it would have been nice to have another big right-handed bat in a pinch.
2022 will be remembered for much talent, but the trip to Omaha was elusive. Kind of depressing but that's baseball.
I'll remember them as a team that opened the season aggressive and hot. I'll remember the season for continued development of Hjerpe, Boyd, Melton, Forrester amongst others. The energy of some new comers...and speed, lots of speed. "Much talent" is a relative term. While they were not as talented as the 17 or 18 team, had they been playing in May as they were in March the season likely ends in Omaha.

DJ Carpenter 14th round to St. Louis I was really hoping he’d be back next year. I think he could be a quality pitcher.
