While I fully recognize that 'winning' an argument on Benny's House with yourself is a metaphysical impossibility, MMcD did hit .244 as a Freshman (2020) at OSU (in 12 games, including 11 starts) - admittedly NO "Conference" games that season. Not sure if that qualifies as a proven >.200 BA....but it is an accurate stat. Oh, you got me. .244. Maybe he should hit clean up next year. Good grief. Micah was starting (12 of the 14 games played) as a true frosh in 2020 until the season got shut down. Since then, fellow top 2020 fr Justin Boyd simply passed him up, as did gym rats Melton and Meckler. Basically Micah got Wally Pipped by one of the best 3-player OFs in OSU history. He has had inconsistent chances the last 2 years, so I’m going to focus on the BA with consistent ABs and root hard for the kid. He is a Beaver, and he deserves it.

Meckler comes back takes 1,000,000 cuts in the cage, wins national poy and millions of bucks next year. Plus like 3 degrees. In 20 years, ends up in Cooperstown after 5 world series rings. Comes back to head coach the Beavers when Mitch retires, all the while working for Goldman Sachs. Underachiever.

If he turns the corner hell yeah man. He hasn’t shown he can compete at this level at the plate but if he does I’ll be front of the line for a Micah autographs. He’s rocking a .500 OBP in summer ball, please bring it to Corvallis !

Not unless he learns how to bat at this level. Turley, Reed, Bazanna, Dernedde, Macias, Kennel and Reeder will all probably be in the mix for those three slots this fall. Even Dern is a better bat. M. McDowell is making his presence felt this summer. 2022 Okotoks: in 22 games he has a .980 OPS and is 19/23 on Stolen Bases. Three years ago his OPS with Okotoks was .511. Some players take longer than others to adjust to high level D-1 pitching. Don't count him out just yet. He was recruited for a reason. I'm all for him coming around. That would be awesome! I'll believe it when I see it. He was completely overmatched by Pac 12 pitching

He got plenty of chances last season, and he just didn't look good at the plate. It's that simple. That said, I'm rooting for him too. He has plus speed, and athleticism. He could be a terror on the base paths.....looks like he is this summer.....and he could be a great defensive outfielder. Baseball is all about adjusting to the pitching at the level you are at. Maybe he will come back to Corvallis ready to hit pac 12 pitching.....fingers and toes crossed.

When is the deadline for them to sign? Hillsboro (Arizona) plays Eugene (San Francisco),in Eugene, July 26th through the 31st. Would love to see Logan and Meckler. The NWL is high A, neither of these guys will start their pro career there. Maybe next year.

Another positive sign is he's got 14 BB to 8 K this summer, he's never had close to that ratio before- even in summer league

Do you know the signing deadline?

Through the first Round of Today, Tuesday (Round 11) - still no more Beavers or Commits (that I'm aware of) selected. Today so far, many 4 year college Seniors and HS seniors

No surprise that in the 12th & 13th Rounds (combined) = only 6 High Schoolers (counting a Venezuelan from an 'academy').

DJ Carpenter 14th round to St. Louis Bit of a surprise, he has the tools though. 1 round higher than the 2018 draft.

Thoughts on what we are losing, what we have not lost and how we feel about things going forward...? Last time we had a recruit potentially projected to go in the first round, and they still had not been drafted going into day three it turned out pretty good for us?? Nick and Cadyn??

It sounds like Mitch may keep most of his recruits. If so, I would expect to see some other position players depart for playing time
