Well 3 Outfield Positions have opened up for sure! I was wondering if Meckler would sign. Hoping it’s open and shut with McDowell in LF, Reed in CF and Turley in RF. Speed to burn and a cannon in RF - just gotta get good pitch selection and swings. Turley still undrafted thru 10 rounds, so a chance to re-load with some of our top recent OF recruits! McDowell shouldn't be anywhere near a starting lineup

Wow good for Meck and Logan. Both of them played their way into a draft slot this year.
Looks like Turkey told teams day 1 or nothing.
If I’m Gough I might be thinking about ole Hjerpe and Frisch right now. Seattle should have money to spare but he might do better betting on himself as a Beav.
Be interesting to see if Pfennigs and Ferrer go FA or come back
Outfield is going to be young but talented if Reed can make it back. Battle for infield apits is going to be crazy!

Turley, Reed, Bazanna, Dernedde, Macias, Kennel and Reeder will all probably be in the mix for those three slots this fall. Even Dern is a better bat.

Hjerpe #22 to St. Louis. I believe that’s 5-10 Slots higher than expected. 6th pitcher and first Leftie. Highest drafted OSU pitcher? Can’t remember Cooper Hjerpe is the highest-drafted pitcher since Scott Christman was drafted 17th overall in the 1993 draft by the White Sox. Christman was a First-Team All-American and the Pac-10 North MVP, 14-1 with a 2.20 ERA. Christman started the year with a loss to California in Sacramento and then won the final 14 straight, setting an Oregon State record. Christman was the highest-selected Oregon State player until Michael Conforto was selected 10th overall in 2014. Oregon State was only 18-17, when Christman did not earn the decision. The Beavers were one win away from tying for a Pac-10 North Co-Championship with Washington in 1993. Christman was promoted to AA Birmingham twice but lost more than he won and had an ERA in excess of six in both stints. The 1994 MLB Strike may have negatively impacted his development. It also likely killed any chance he had of playing baseball with Michael Jordan at Birmingham.

McDowell is making his presence felt this summer. 2022 Okotoks: in 22 games he has a .980 OPS and is 19/23 on Stolen Bases. Three years ago his OPS with Okotoks was .511. Some players take longer than others to adjust to high level D-1 pitching. Don't count him out just yet. He was recruited for a reason.

He still hasn’t proven he can hit .200 in our league. If he’s starting, it’s going to be a long year.

While I fully recognize that 'winning' an argument on Benny's House with yourself is a metaphysical impossibility, MMcD did hit .244 as a Freshman (2020) at OSU (in 12 games, including 11 starts) - admittedly NO "Conference" games that season. Not sure if that qualifies as a proven >.200 BA....but it is an accurate stat.

Frankly anyone who makes the 35/40 man roster is going to deserve it. We’re atleast 10 players over the limit and the talent depth is pretty absurd. pointstreak.com/baseball/player.html?playerid=1598981

If you had told me McDowell would be hitting .12 higher average than Guerra I would have assumed it was an alternate reality.

In all seriousness, I believe that a good team can afford about one < .220 hitter. It's usually the SS or 2b. If the middle infielders are capable at the plate, and there is a plus defender in outfield that is not up to snuff with the bat - it CAN work out. That being said, I'm hoping that MMcD (in 2023) is a 4th outfielder and a PR.
