I don’t think 12 is enough. At 12 members it only takes 1-2 to leave and the league goes crazy, and not in a good way. Keep everyone left and add at least 6 and vow to keep it that size and the conference is viable long term. With just 12 or 14, Uw, uo and the mountain schools will continually worry about what secret plans the other might have and we’ll be at risk of more defections. Get to at least 16 and there won’t be so much worry about what the next guy is doing, if someone moves on there will be a line waiting to get in and the league can afford to get picky.

As blutarsky said in Animal house, "what's all this lying around sh#t?". "It's over when we say it's over"

I like the story of resurrecting a dormant program and elevating it to P5 status. It'd get a ton of press, Snoop Dogg could be a great spokesperson for the team....they'd have great jerseys. A stadium would need to be found. I'm not saying the path forward is an easy one, or without risk....I'm just trying to come up with a solution that maybe doesn't involve us taking on a few schools that maybe keep us afloat but never provide a pathway to a bigger windfall down the line. I'd just like to see the numbers or be curious to hear what TV execs think about the idea
Steven Spielberg was not accepted to USC as a student and went to Long Beach. I know he gives a bunch to USC's film school, but might this spur him to support his alma mater?

I'd just like to see the numbers or be curious to hear what TV execs think about the idea Steven Spielberg was not accepted to USC as a student and went to Long Beach. I know he gives a bunch to USC's film school, but might this spur him to support his alma mater? Cal State Fullerton opened Titan Stadium, a 10,000-seat football stadium in 1992, the last year that Cal State Fullerton had a football team. UCLA has used it in the past as a training field. Titan Stadium is about seven miles away from Disneyland and less than 10 miles away from Knott's Berry Farm. Back before I had a laptop, I was travelling in Southern California at some point after Christmas and had to fill out something or another to attend Oregon State University fulltime Winter Semester. (I only took one class in the Fall my senior year, the minimum to be eligible to get free football tickets, and just needed to register for my final four, if I remember right, classes to graduate in the Winter.) Anyway, I ended up missing some preliminary deadline or another and had to scramble to meet a final deadline to register. So, I drove up to Fullerton, walked onto campus, and snuck into a computer lab that was open after Christmas but before classes started again to get everything squared away. Beautiful campus. Fullerton beats the holy hell out of USC in location and ambiance. Give the LA kids a school to go to. Before the original six Pacific Coast Conference elevated USC out of the mire of Southern California, they were basically nothing. The Pacific Coast Conference turned them into what they are today, a bunch of narcistic, entitled brats, living in a once-beautiful but now downtrodden part of the City of Angels. Let's do it again with Cal State Fullerton! Long Beach State was the team before Cal State Fullerton to drop football. Long Beach State played at Veterans Memorial Stadium at LBCC, that's right Long Beach City College. Veterans Memorial Stadium seats 11,600. Long Beach State has a track stadium on campus, which seats about 5,000.

Fullerton wouldn't be bad either, but the color scheme of LBSU would "pop" better on TV. Plus, their basketball stadium is a pyramid, which is awesome.

Why don't we resurrect Gonzaga's football program too, and then add them along with Long Beach State.

Why don't we resurrect Gonzaga's football program too, and then add them along with Long Beach State. Adding a start up program is way worse than picking up a MWC team. Hell, Sac St would be better than adding a start up. Start up programs don’t get added to major conferences from the get go. They have to work their way up. Fullerton or LB would add absolutely zero to our conference. Maybe we should just add UC Davis and get Dan Hawkins back in league….lol

I'm not sure we would.....or how long would it before we demanded a full cut?

UW holds the cards now. They're the big dawg, with the biggest remaining media market. Their actions from here will determine if we still have a conference. They can also dictate to the conference what actions we take as far as expansion. Keeping them happy will likely be a priority. What I find odd is how everybody is lumping in Washington and Oregon together when talking about others potentially looking to leave. UW I can understand, but UO? They have just as little leverage as us. Their football program success may be at a high level on the field, but in the game of fanbase and TV markets, they're still small time. I can't imagine that UW would 'partner' with them in any way to leave as a package. Or at least I hope not! I love to imagine a scenario where UO's AD calls his UW counterpart to discuss a paired strategy, and the UW AD tells him to pound sand and that he's on his own. If he's smart, that's exactly what he should do. I heard big 10 is drooling over some possible influx of Nike money If you think it can’t happen then you probably have not been following the national media in all of this. Have you even been in the ballpark on anything you've said so far?
If the national media is reporting that the B10 is drooling over Nike $ (as if they don't have any Nike money) it shouldn't be too hard to link to stories that talk about how desperate B10 is to have Oregon join.

If this is really a concern, y'all should start collecting signatures that Oregon and Oregon State must remain in the same conference or (better yet) equally split all media revenue. Something. It'll probably lose, but there's always that one-in-a-million chance.

Ah, hell! Let’s rejuvenate JC (community college) football in Oregon! MT Hood CC, Treasure Valley CC, and Clackamas CC (I played in ‘76. Go Cougars!).
