Gavin Logan has been promoted to High A Hillsboro- go and watch him play In the last two days, both D.J. Carpenter and Jake Pfennigs were promoted to Palm Beach and Stockton, respectively. (Who got the better end of that promotion?) Meckler is the only one still stuck in one of the CL leagues. He is doing well down there, too. I don't know what the issue is with, as to why he is still stuck there. Neither Cooper Hjerpe nor Will Frisch have pitched yet. Both may be done until Spring. Logan is the first 2022 draftee into A+ ball, right? If so, quite the accomplishment. For ex-Beavers, Troy Claunch was promoted from Glendale to A Kannapolis. |

So, Meckler will be playing for a Championship, starting tonight at six at Talking Stick. And in the FCL, Yankees took game one of the Championship Series against the Rays. The season has ended for everyone else, who is not playing at least A ball. |

So, Meckler will be playing for a Championship, starting tonight at six at Talking Stick. Meckler led off the game with a triple to center. P.J. Hilson doubled him home. Hilson scored on wild pitch. 2-0 Giants. The Rockies got one back in the bottom half. Meckler walked in the third and scored on a two-run shot two batters later. 4-1 Giants. The Giants scored one to pull back to 4-2. The Rockies almost got out of a bases loaded jam with a double-play ball but could not quite turn it. 4-3 Giants. From there, the Rockies took the lead 5-4 with a double and single. Meckler grounded out in the fifth, which was too bad, because Hilson hit a two-out tripled right afterwards but was stranded at third. Meckler singled in the eighth but was stuck there. 5-4 Rockies in game one. Game two tonight at six. |

Christian Chamberlain is at AA Northern Arkansas with the KC Royal affiliate. He got moved up at the end of May. Chamberlain was moved to the Development List 17 days ago, which means that he is not on the active roster. His ERA at Northwest Arkansas is 9.43. Before June, there was chatter that Chamberlain was the second-best lefty in Kansas City's system. Since then..........that kind of chatter has died down. He has a 96-97 mph fastball and one of the best breaking balls in Kansas City's system. But I have heard that he has a lot of trouble throwing a decent changeup. |

Rays and Yankees also play a Championship Game tomorrow in the FCL. |

The Rockies took an early 3-2 lead. Meckler walked in the third but was stranded. Meckler led off the eighth still down 3-2 and singled to left. The next two batters singled and walked to load 'em up, and the cleanup hitter drove all three home on a line drive double to center, Meckler scoring the game-tying run. 5-3 Giants entering the ninth. The Rockies loaded the bases with two outs. The shortstop threw past first two allow two runs to score to tie it at five. Gonzaga's William Kempner (started the first game in Surprise against Oregon State) came in to strike out the final batter. With two on and one out, that lousy Rockies coach put in Auburn's Carson Skipper. And Skipper did what he did against Meckler both times at the Corvallis Super Regional, striking out Meckler. The next hitter hit a walk-off single, though. 6-5 Giants. Today, Meckler was promoted to A San Jose. The Giants' A+ squad is Eugene. |

Hamilton makes the 20 minute drive from St. Paul to Minneapolis to rejoin the team. Of course, the Twins are in Houston right now. Great for Hamilton, though! Also, Trevor Larnach is supposed to be close to getting cleared to start his rehab assignment. It would be fun to see those two try and chase down Kwan's Guardians for the Central Crown. Hamilton scored his first career run in the Majors on Saturday, the game-winner in the 10th. Game two of what is now a four-game winning streak. The Twins play the Red Sox this afternoon to try and stretch the streak to five. Larnach is supposed to start his rehab with Fort Myers by the end of the week. The Twins are currently 1.5 games behind the Guardians for the Central Crown and three games behind the Blue Jays for the final wildcard spot. The Orioles are currently two games back of the Blue Jays, a game in front of the Twins. |

The other thing with Grenier is that, if he realistically wants to see time in the Bigs, he basically needs to be able to play every single position that he can well. He needs to be Daniel Robertson. Robertson could run and play six different positions at a major league level. If Grenier can do the same, there may still be a place for him, even if his bat never comes around to be a Robertson-level bat. On August 4, 2022 Grenier dips below .200 on the season at AAA [with a putrid .600 OPS]. He's at .071 BA in August 2022 is actually one of his worst season in pro ball at the plate. If he wasn't a 1st round draft pick (1.8 million signing bonus), I suspect he'd be a high school baseball coach by now. He's one of my all-time favorite Beavs, but the writing is on the wall. Grenier started the first seven games in August going .053. In the last nine games, he's hitting .370. On Sunday, he went 2/2 with a triple, a solo shot, and two walks, scoring four runs after each plate appearance. Grenier laces 'em up again this afternoon at 3:35 PT. Grenier is like the T-900 in Terminator. No matter how many times you knock that guy down, he just keeps getting back up. |

And Alex McGarry continues to rake at AA. Three HR's in the last four games. Since I started following the Beaver's minor leaguers progress, I don't remember someone ever making this large of positive gain in a season. McGarry just promoted today to AAA Louisville. |
