I don't think Larnach has even started a rehab assignment yet Larnach is only 4-5 weeks post-surgery. They don't expect him to optimistically start rehabbing for another 1-2 weeks. The fact that he is not on the 60-day IL is, at least somewhat, heartening.

Caleb Hamilton made his debut today, but K'd in both of his at bats. Hamilton actually debuted on the Sunday before the All-Star Break. He hit a ground ball to short in an 11-0 loss. Both times that Hamilton has played are to spell Gary Sanchez in the late innings in 6+ run ballgames.

He just needs to start hitting, if he wants to stick in the Majors.

Norfolk has at least four middle infielders, who probably would be starting elsewhere. Gunnar Henderson is the Orioles' best offensive prospect now that Adley is playing in Baltimore. Jordan Westburg, who played in the 2018 College World Series for Mississippi State was the 30th overall pick in the 2020 draft. He is the Orioles' second-best infield prospect. He sees a lot of time at third, when Henderson is playing short. Terrin Vavra, who played in the 2018 Corvallis Super Regional for Minnesota, was a third-rounder in 2018. He was traded to Baltimore from Colorado with two other players for Mychal Givens. He is probably the Oriole infielder most-likely to get called up this year. The fact that Grenier is not playing the four, five, or six basically indicates where he stands on the totem poll, behind Henderson, Westburg, and Vavra. Grenier has an MLB-ready glove, but he needs to consistently hit. He shows flashes, but it just has never all come together for long enough to warrant a call-up. The other thing with Grenier is that, if he realistically wants to see time in the Bigs, he basically needs to be able to play every single position that he can well. He needs to be Daniel Robertson. Robertson could run and play six different positions at a major league level. If Grenier can do the same, there may still be a place for him, even if his bat never comes around to be a Robertson-level bat. On August 4, 2022 Grenier dips below .200 on the season at AAA [with a putrid .600 OPS]. He's at .071 BA in August 2022 is actually one of his worst season in pro ball at the plate. If he wasn't a 1st round draft pick (1.8 million signing bonus), I suspect he'd be a high school baseball coach by now. He's one of my all-time favorite Beavs, but the writing is on the wall.

I believe that almost everything has been updated elsewhere, but Tyler Malone was recently activated from his injury. (He got hurt on June 1, 2022, and was out for more than two months.) Malone played a game in Peoria and a second at Camelback Ranch. After completing the two-game rehab, he was promoted to A+ Fort Wayne. Kevin Abel was out for 25 days after his July 15, 2022, start in Tampa. He pitched his first game last Tuesday, allowing four earned runs on five walks and a hit in 1.2 innings in a rather inauspicious return to A-ball. I don't remember it being reported, but Kyle Froemke was promoted to A Rancho Cucamonga 22 days ago. Mick Abel was promoted to AA Reading and is set to make his first start there on Saturday. Jayce Easley was promoted to the Hickory Crawdads back on May 12, 2022. Easley then got hurt on July 3, 2022, and played three games in Surprise back in July before rejoining Hickory 19 days ago.

Hamilton makes the 20 minute drive from St. Paul to Minneapolis to rejoin the team. Of course, the Twins are in Houston right now. Great for Hamilton, though! Also, Trevor Larnach is supposed to be close to getting cleared to start his rehab assignment. It would be fun to see those two try and chase down Kwan's Guardians for the Central Crown.

Justin Boyd having a rough go of it at single A Daytona.
Batting .107 with 15Ks in 28 ABs. OUCH!
I hope he's working on something instead of this being a true showing of his abilities.

Grounded out to second with two runners in scoring position in the first, grounded out to short, and struck out with two on in the sixth. Wazzu's Brandon White ('21) got Boyd to chase on some low and outside garbage. Boyd needs to calm down, see the ball, and just hit. Of course, maybe Boyd just hates wearing green?

He may need to get used to the green, since the Reds A+ affiliate - the Dayton Dragons - also wear it as their primary color.
