Vicki does a great job with her page, but I’m not sure that it’s a great idea to have families of coaches and players along with fans all talking hoops in the same spot. Great place to share and find information, but it can get iffy when it comes to things like transfers and games. Vicki does her best to keep it positive and closely moderated, bit things like Taylor’s father’s message and Savannah’s mother’s comments last season make it interesting. Taylor’s father clearly doesn’t understand the difference between a message board and Vicki’s page. Vicki molests collies, or so I’ve heard. And she cheats at golf.

Maybe it's time to close this thread and move on. As fans we really have no idea what happens with the team other than public practices and games.
Time to move along.

6,000 a night? Where, not here. In 2019-20, OSU home attendance averaged 5,902 per game. For the 9 conference games, the average was 6,309. What was it this year? Aaah, that’s the point. We also made a final four a long time ago.

This year's average was 4,422. There were other reasons, however, than just how the team was doing.
There were only 4 non-conference games, none of which were against good teams, and the parking passes weren't honored at 2 of them. The demolition work at Reser closed down large swaths of the parking lot for the entire season. Covid fears kept attendance way down at the game the kids normally attend. Covid mandates, as well as fears, kept people away who might normally attend.
Do I think attendance will rebound next year? No, I do not. The negative vibe given off by all these transfers will, I fear, combine with the perceived decline of the program to take the excitement out of the season for far too many. Can't trade on past glories anymore; the enthusiasm, like the team, is going to need to be rebuilt.

Saw this on Facebook. It is part of a comment that was left by Taylor's dad: "I made the mistake of going on BP to see what they were saying about the ladies leaving prior to Taylor announcing……Made Me Sick at what these uninformed, Factless, Monday Morning Armchair Point Guard Idiots were saying about Destiny Sasha Gretta Kennedy and now Taylor. I’m not going to go into details I’ll let y’all go see for yourselves. I will share one point that a gentleman made though. He simple asked all The Idiots…..”Why are y’all bashing 18, 19 and 20 year olds for making what is obviously an agonizing decision that The NCAA Adults put in place ? They are simply using what was put in front of them. Coaches do it all of the time”. I don’t want to end this on that last point. I want to say one more time…We will miss all of y’all. We will continue to cheer for Oregon State in everything. Watch every game that we can. We Love y’all and of course: Go Beavs !!!!" Taylor's dad needs some help with random letter capitalization. He should post here. He’d be right at home!

The original post got taken down and scrubbed then put back up.

I guess I'm trying to look at it from the "dad" perspective. I mean, if a grown person is calling my daughter names - or if I even think they are - I'm going to swing first and then ask questions later (I don't necessarily mean physically, but in some cases, maybe I do!). And I know I'm not alone in that thinking. Fathers look out for their daughters, period. And that's even if their emotion-fueled reactions are (at best) semi-rational. I get it. I've been there. I look out for my daughter as well. But if skulking around a message board after your daughter announces she’s bailing on the program, what do you expect? Actually, he checked before. I guess he was anticipating crap.

I don't think it is ever a good idea for relatives to come on team message boards to post or read. It's probably not even a good idea for players to do so. Fans tend to be swayed by emotions rather than objectivity as do most relative. Both comments should be taking in context. But Taylors dad response was nothing to what I have seen on some other sites by relatives. There was one relative on the Baylor site two seasons ago that really got testy. Players have the right to make decision based what what they feel is in their own best interests. And fans have the right to feel disappointed. That is the essence of sports-emotional involvement.
I for one always follow players that once have played on the teams I follow. I always hope to see them do well. I do admit that sometimes its also curiosity to find out if the fulfill my perspective on their potential.

From the many individuals I've met who are year-after-year members of Rebounder's Row, I have learned an important lesson. Many of them love The Girls far more than they love the game.
They are somewhat akin to honorary parents, or, speaking loosely, emotional caregivers, for the team. Their knowledge of the game is OK but not very polished - certainly not great. Their concern is for, and their investment is in, the players. 100%.
When the Beavs lose they feel worse for The Girls than for the loss of the game itself. They are all about the players.
I have no problem with this. I think it's great. But it's important to understand how emotionally strong their connection is to the players, year after year, who come into the program.
When they hear someone criticize a player's game they take it personal. With these fans I never talk Xs & Os. It aggravates them. They find it impersonal, even de-humanizing. They're more concerned with other things. They like The Girls. Period. They like basketball -but it's secondary.
Some of them refuse to read this board because it's too technical and too analytical for their liking. They like The Girls, OSU, and basketball - in that order. God bless 'em all. GO BEAVS!!

Thanks for the post. I follow the program from afar and am not familiar with Rebounder's Row. Can you please provide more information on it? It is great that players are valued for being human and not just as athletes.

Rebounder's row is the front row opposite the benches that members of the rebounder club can pay for.
