Any idea why Carpenter hasn't pitched at all this mini-series? The last few times he has pitched he has been just as bad as Verburg! I understand, but unless he has an injury, the experience is worthwhile. Certainly would've been a better choice than some of those yesterday.

Good to see us win a couple close ones.

Ryan Brown is our new Closer. He seems to have good moxie and is calm even when a batter gets on. 94 MPH heater and a nice tight slider, and much better control than Verburg.

2 one run wins is a nice "payback" for those 2 one run losses in 2019.

Time to give Brown that closer role. Verberg needs to go back to the drawing board. Pitches are too sweet...not in a good way.

Never worried a bit. Just because we give up 19 hits, not a problem. Really feel bad for Verberg. That guy looked like he was going to be +++ Stud before his injury. I have to say I wish we had a great breaking ball Closer. Nev. was locked on to any FB any only looked bad on breaking balls. Just saying..
Go Beav's!!!

With this win, the Beavers are now 4-3 in one run games 4-4 in games decided by 3 runs or less

Anyway, I'm rooting for him because I love seeing a tall, powerful pitcher out on the mound. I think he can be quite a pitcher for us in the long run.

2 one run wins is a nice "payback" for those 2 one run losses in 2019. Indeed! There were 4 or 5 on this years team that suffered through the 2019 experience. I imagine that they had some stories for the newcomers on the bus ride from Berkeley. Now next time the Beavs go to Reno (2024??) guys like Kmatz, Smith, and Trosky will have some tales to tell to the young 'uns.
