Only hole in lineup currently..Guerra gets his chance today! Dernedde's not exactly lighting it up either. You may be able to live with that due to his glove, but he's down to hitting .213.

Does anyone have a feel out of Dukart/Gretler/Guerra who the best defensive 3B is?

Four candidates? Wheeler, Forrester, Smith and Boisvert. Combination of any 2. Like I matter! Yeah I would sure be looking at someone that can hit.

3B and SS are holes, but most lineups have a couple holes at the bottom of the lineup. Offense is scoring 10 runs a game, it should be fine.
Bigger issue is sorting out the Starting pitching now that Frisch is done for the year, and figuring out who in the bullpen is Pac-12 ready.

Can Forrester play 3B? He played some 2B last year....him at 3B and Wheeler at 1B sure would help the offense!

Wheeler in the DH hole and Guerra at 3B might be the the most potent lineup we can field. maybe someting like this:
Meckler Bazzana Boyd Melton Wheeler Forrester Logan Guerra Dernedde

The follow comparisons (2021 WCL vs. 2022 season to date) began by looking at Mason Guerra's' performance, which I watched thru the Summer of 2021, and have 2022 to-date . But I expanded it out to include 5 other Beavers that have seen significant playing time in 2022, who spent 2021 in WCL.
It's not meant to support any conclusions, rather hopefully it provides some insight or interesting reading.
Displayed are West Coast League 2021 BA and OPS..///..followed by D-1 2022 season-to-date BA and OPS:
Guerra .171/.623 /// .200/.733 Fuchs .311/.837 /// .258/.733 Dernedde .129/.506 /// .255/.750 T.Smith .225/.601 /// .429/1.217 Bazzana .429/1.064 /// .328/.886 G. Logan .307/.889 /// .386/1.076
Season is young, and my hope is that Oregon 2021 HS POY Guerra can adjust to college pitching....because, as the thread title says "Got to find production at 3rd base".
I clearly remember Michael Gretler's first year as a D-1/Beav player (2015) when he was struggling with the 'adjustment'. He was more often than not a rally killer: Played in 41 games, started 32, and batted .171 with one double and 12 RBI (OPS .448).

My first 5 guys go like this: Meckler Boyd Melton Forrester Bazzana Until he shows different Forrester is a 7 hole guy for me. Forrester's on base percentage is .508 due in part to 17 walks. I would not move him down in the lineup with that number. Gretler had a great fall, and a solid spring striking the ball. The skill level is still there, looks to me like he is not very confident managing the strike zone. I also think he is the best defensive 3rd baseman we've got. I'd give him a chance to play through it.

He hasn't been hitting all the well, but he finds ways on base......vs say Bazzana who has cooled off some, and looks to be pressing at the plate a bit to me.......I think both players will be just fine. My only point is Forresters approach is next level. When he gets hot at the plate, look out! I agree with your Gretler take. Hes in a slump. He will come out of it.

Solid lineup. Now lets get ready for the Arizona St. I really dislike them. It doesn't matter if its Jim Brock, Pat Murphy, Tim Esmey, Tracy Smith, or Willie Bloomquist leading their team. I don't like them and can't "change my ways."
