The last thing we need is ANOTHER shooting guard.

Raoul is definitely playing catch up. I don't remember what the number was yesterday, but he is now up to 1232 in the portal. On May 2nd he was around 1211. He just added Chavez and Arizona State's Loville last night or today. He does a great job, but it's hard to get everybody (there is 1200+ of them).

If the post title meant it would be heating up for the Beavers, I hope somebody has been plowing wood or shoveling coal in! Because since March 13 I’d say the “heat” from the portal for Oregon St is about the equivalent of burning wet cottonwood!

I found this line from Adia interesting, “I know as a coach, I can get five kids out of the portal — really good players,” she said. I wonder if SR and staff feel the same way. You would think the Beavs would have wanted to add about 5 players (they had 8 before portal additions), but we'll see how many they end up with. I know Arizona has not got everyone they want yet, and I know they lost out on some they wanted, but they also seem to still be in on some good players.

It's been quiet for a few days, and some of us are impatient, while others may be curious as to whether the Beavs will go into fall with the current 10 player roster, or if there will be more additions. 10 seems like a skinny number when you consider injury possibilities, foul problems, or the chance of another covid outbreak this fall winter. I would be mildly shocked if the Beavs go into fall without another player who could play the 4 or 5 (or both) position, and I would be somewhat surprised if they don't add another wing/guard. Right now, they only have 3 players who look to play big, Jelena, Tamia, and Raegan, while the other 7 fill out the wing/guard category, and it's possible Tamia may be able to slide to wing on occasions, although that wouldn't seem likely if the Beavs go into fall without another big. There are still some good, and certainly some intriguing guards/wings still in the portal, there doesn't appear to be as many bigs. So, getting back to our impatience, or curiosity as to win we may expect more additions. It could actually happen at any time up until fall, but here is a look at when the ducks added players last year.....I used them because they had numerous additons. Taylor Hosendove was announced on 5/12 Ahlise Hurst was announced on 5/14 Chanaya Pinto was announced on 5/25 (JC signee) Shannon Dufficy was announced on 6/18 Endyia Rogers was announced on 6/28. As I write this, it is May 8th, the ducks signed all 5 of those players after this date last year and through the end of June. I doubt the Beavs stick with the 10 as their complete roster, but just looking at the last signees of the ducks last season tells you we could still be waiting a while before knowing if the Beavs are done this year.

I would not enter a transfer portal if I was a player. You could run into bigfoot or some other alien using it at the same time...that would scare the living daylights out of me. Bigfoot has tons of experience with interdimensional portals, disappearing from one place and reappearing somewhere else, I do not.

Absolutely worthless post. Expect to hear some portal news when reviewing the latest post. Bigfoot news has nothing to do with “Look for the portal to start heating up some.” Keep to the topic!

Soooo, some bits and pieces from an article on the portal:
Arizona
Lost: Bendu Yeaney (Oregon State, one year remaining), Netty Vonleh (Colorado, three years remaining), Koi Love (USC, two years remaining)
The loss of Yeaney will be felt significantly on defense. She finished with 44 steals and 11 blocks last season and was a physical perimeter defender. Though neither Love nor Vonleh played significant minutes this season, their losses are particularly tough because they both had multiple seasons of eligibility remaining.
Added: Lauren Fields (Oklahoma State, two years remaining), Esmery Martinez (West Virginia, two years remaining)
The Wildcats’ defense was strong again last season, giving up just 57.4 points per game, but their offense lacked a clutch scorer like they had during the 2020-21 season in Aari McDonald. Many thought Love might fill that role last year, but it didn’t come to pass. Though losing those three players is a hit to the Wildcats’ depth, coach Adia Barnes brought in two players with scoring ability from the portal. Fields averaged 15.4 points last season and Martinez averaged 11.3. Those two, along with Cate Reese, give Arizona a strong scoring base. Martinez is a 40 percent 3-point shooter so she’ll help space the floor alongside Helena Pueyo and Madison Conner, both of whom could see increased roles.
Oregon
Lost: Sydney Parrish (Indiana, three years remaining), Maddie Scherr (three years remaining), Kylee Watson (Notre Dame, three years remaining)
Parrish and Scherr combined for 60 starts for the Ducks last season and presumably would’ve been starters again this coming season. With minutes available in the paint, Watson (who started nine games this season) could’ve been in contention too. Losing multiple players to the portal is tough. Losing multiple starters to the portal is really tough. Losing multiple starters who had three years of eligibility remaining is a bad sign for a program that hasn’t been close to its best since Sabrina Ionescu graduated.

Jeez Louise! Some of you folks need to lighten up. It's just a joke...(although there are folks that think bigfoot really is an alien and uses interdimensional portals making it very elusive )))
