It looks like Baylor is going to land both Jana Van Gytenbeek and Aijah Blackwell. That's what I call a Homerun. Decisions are coming quickly. There are still a number of intriguing players available....unfortunately most of the best talent is from the east or south. Here's a few that could make a difference somewhere, and a few of these look to end up in the Pac12. Not sure there is much OSU interest though. Saniya Rivers---South Carolina Destiny Littleton---South Carolina----originally from Souther Cal. If she wants to get closer to home, is OSU close enough to San Diego? JH following Ashley Owusu--Maryland---JH following on both twitter and Instagram Angel Reese--Maryland Khadija Faye--6-4 post from Texas Tech/Senegal Lauren Ebo---Texas big Latasha Lattimore---Texas big Jasmine Massengill--Kentucky---followed by JH Dre'una Edwards--Kentucky---west is home---followed by JH Treasure Hunt---Kentucky---followed by JH De'mauri Flournoy--Vanderbuilt---solid Hoopgurlz ranking, but didn't get playing time as freshman at Vanderbilt. Not much news on who has interest. De'myla Brown---Illionis---sources say Oregon State has made contact KK Deans--West Virginia---JH follows Sonya Morris--DePaul Lauren Fields---Oklahoma State---JH follows Dayalah Daniels---Cal---signs point to Arizona, but until it happens she will have plenty of choices Taylor Bigby---oregon---looks like there may be interest in heading to the state of Texas Kayla Williams--UCI---should translate to power 5 ball without a problem---JH following Caitlyn Harper---Cal Baptist
Players and making decisions so quickly now, some of these may have made a decision and I missed it. As you all know, there are a lot more out looking for a new home.

Raoul's site says Cal Baptist's Caitlyn Harper is going to Purdue. She's from Wisconsin.

Please excuse my thoughts on a past facet in the portal dynamic discussion. As a college fan I’m having a hard time with player mobility and my rooting for a team that one used to be able to watch develop over time. Free agency in baseball, while a positive step for the athletes, diminished my enthusiasm for the major league game.
As so, now, college athletes have increased freedoms. They can change schools without penalty. They can make money off their name and in untold other ways. There are HIPPA laws to protect their medical situations. Is it not fair to hold them accountable as one would be in the rest of the world when you’re 18. So much is changing in the college sport’s world, maybe privacy is a cost. Yes they are young. Yet they have chosen a path that exposes them. They need to act accordingly or not and be open to consequences, good or not. As has been said elsewhere, with freedom comes responsibility. As there are two sides to a coin, so too progress often comes with a cost.

Are you feeling less likely to attend an OSU game or watch one on TV? If that is the case it might be worth shooting an email to Scott Barnes. Fan support drives revenue and I’m sure they’re interested in why any long time fan/supporter would be considering stepping away from that support.

Taylor Bigby committed to Florida. Haven't seen her added officially to Florida yet, but they did add KK Deans, so another good one off the list. It looks like 10ish added to the portal yesterday, but MANY more committed to their new school. As they say, they're droppin' like flies.

Our front court production next year will be a function of the fouls that happen minus the depth we have to sub with. we will be in most games till half and then things become axiomatic. And six three isn’t really that big anymore. Our 6’3 gals coming in though can shoot at all 3 levels. Another thing to look at is who can provide depth with key starters such as pg wing or post.

I’ll take your question at face value. Did I watch other womens bball games, yes, with not the same investment as I did with the Beavers. Will I watch/attend OSU games, - yes, with less investment. Before the portal there was a sense of watching the maturation of players over time, working their way to playing time over years ala Marie Gulich. At OSU a sense of a community amongst the players and their relationship with the fans and vice versa existed. That rings hollow now. Players are more like commodities moving around at will or being moved on as I hear is the case possibly at Arizona and Oregon. “Family” as voiced by various teams is now a conceit. I don’t begrudge the player’s new options but I don’t have to like it. Some choose now to optimize their individual futures. OK. Scott Barnes has little if any impact on the portal. He’s probably scratching his head as well. Investment can only be made at face value, somewhat shallow. I’ll adjust some.

It'll be interesting in the coming seasons whether the extreme movement were seeing this season is a typical baseline. Or whether is somewhat of an anomaly, intensified by the extra "Covid season" and by the general downer the last 2 seasons have been from a fan's (and by extension, players') POV.

Don’t know much about her, but this could be an intriguing one if she’s looking to come closer to home. Ashley may be from Dallas but she played her HS ball at the highest level here in Oregon. This from her Bio on the Nebraska WBB page: High School Scoggin suffered a torn ACL in her left knee in the summer of 2015, prior to her senior season at Westview High School in Portland, Ore. The injury also caused her to delay her collegiate enrollment until after the 2016-17 season. As a junior at Westview in 2014-15, Scoggin averaged 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. She was a two-time first-team all-metro performer at Westview. As a sophomore at Westview, Scoggin averaged 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals while helping Westview to a third-place finish at the Class 6A state tournament. Scoggin played her sophomore season alongside former WNBA player Jaime Nared (Las Vegas Aces), who enters her fourth professional season overall Enisey (Russia) in 2021-22. Scoggin played her freshman season at West Salem High School, averaging 15.7 points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals. Also found this: Scoggin enrolled at Salt Lake City CC prior to the 2017-18 season. She suffered a torn ACL in her right knee on July 13, 2017, and redshirted during the 2017-18 season. In 2018-19, Scoggin continued to feel discomfort in her right knee and underwent another ACL surgery on her right knee in November of 2018, before undergoing a minor meniscus repair in September of 2019. So she now has had 3 ACL surgeries and a meniscus repair....and then did this at Nebraska: Ashley Scoggin started 51 consecutive games for Nebraska including 25 straight to open the 2021-22 season. She averaged 8.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists, while ranking among the Big Ten and national leaders by hitting 42 percent (55-131) of her three-point attempts. Her three-pointer percentage was the seventh-best season mark in school history. In two seasons as a starter, Scoggin totaled 431 points, 96 rebounds and 98 assists, while knocking down 98 three-pointers. Her career 39.7 three-point percentage ranked seventh in Husker history. She scored six points and hit both of her three-point attempts in Nebraska's 72-55 win over No. 5 Indiana (Feb. 14) in the final game of her Nebraska career. Scoggin scored a career-high 20 points on a career-high six threes at No. 17 Maryland (Feb. 6). She also had a career-high four steals against the Terps. She had 19 points in a win over NC Central (Nov. 20), when she hit four threes. She added four more threes to finish with 16 points and three steals in a win over Drake (Dec. 19). Scoggin also hit four threes to finish with 12 points at San Diego (Nov. 27). She pitched in 12 points on four more threes at Michigan State (Dec. 30), before getting 13 points and four assists against Iowa (Jan. 9). She opened the season with 12 points and a career-high six assists in a win over Maine (Nov. 9). It was the first of seven double-digit scoring efforts for Scoggin on the year, and she finished with 20 double-figure scoring performances in 51 career games as a Husker. Scoggin scored six points while hitting both of her three-point attempts in a 72-55 win over No. 5 Indiana (Feb. 14) in the final game of her Nebraska career. Scoggin's Career Stats Year G-GS FG-FGA Pct. 3FG-3FGA Pct. FT-FTA Pct. TRB-Avg. PF-D A TO Blk ST Pts-Avg. 2020-21 26-26 78-194 .402 43-116 .371 22-27 .815 55-2.1 43-1 60 63 0 18 221-8.5 2021-22 25-25 72-181 .398 55-131 .420 11-11 1.000 41-1.6 33-0 38 41 1 22 210-8.4 Career 51-51 150-375 .400 98-247 .397 33-38 .868 96-1.9 76-1 98 104 1 40 431-8.5 I have not seen her play so I don't know if she is a PG or a shooting guard but I think we could find PT for someone who is a career 40 % from 3 and a career 87% FT shooter and who has had the resilience to come back from 3 ACL surgeries and a meniscus repair and put up the above numbers at Nebraska. Maybe she would like to come home to Dallas and finish out her career 25 miles down the road in Corvallis!

It would be real interesting to see what the Beavs would do. She was kicked off the team and didn't play after Feb 14th. Rumors of an affair with an Assistant coach.
She has the stats to lead you to believe she could help the Beavs and probably has 2 years remaining. He injuries make it a tough read on her eligibility. Started 51 straight games for Nebraska, so has plenty of experience and is a really good 3pt shooter and ft shooter. Not really a point guard, but could help take some relief off a starting PG.
