I am confident that SR will find players to keep the program competitive. The question is, can he bring in enough high-end players to make OSU a top 25 program that competes for conference titles again. The jury is still out on that question... Keep the program competitive? If you don't have high end players, and you're not a top 25 program, and you don't compete for conference titles, just who exactly is it that you are competitive with? GO BEAVS!!

I agree that Rueck really has his work cut out for him..... Yes, there are a lot of good players available, but it seems to me that the Beaver need a REALLY good player, and there seem to be very few of them..... I don't think we've had an impact transfer since Slocum, so it's not like they are that easy to find... Rueck has a lot of connections throughout the country, and a solid reputation as a coach who parents trust..... But, I can't shake the feeling that, when you get right down to it, there just are not that many good players out there who have the skills to substantially improve our roster....Hope I'm wrong about that. Has Daniels (from Cal) made her decision yet? She's one I'd like to see sign on. GO BEAVS!! I agree with you that the Beavs need a really good player. There are a number of them out there, but that list is dwindling every day. I'll qualify this by saying I haven't been on the computer all day today until just now, so some of these players may had made their decision this weekend, but players like Saniya Rivers, Aijha Blackwell (last I heard visiting Baylor and down to 3), Dre'una Edwards (also visiting Baylor), KK Deans, and there are more. I think a large part of the problem is, many of the best players available are for the east and south, and getting them interested in Oregon State isn't working. Daniels is available unless she committed today. (Arizona does seem to be after her). Same with Van Gytenbeek. Kayla Williams from UCI would be a big get. There are some really intriguing names that I didn't mention because there seems to be no Beaver interest (or vice versa). In my mind, SR is a proven recruiter. You can't have the classes the Beavs have had the last few years without being a quality recruiter of High School players. SR has not proven he can get the stars from the transfer portal. Bendu is a great addition, but I consider her low hanging fruit. She wanted to come back home. I hope I'm wrong, but I expect this portal class for the Beavs to be similar to last year, in that the Beavs bring in some players who can help, but none that are a difference maker, and the Beavs need a couple difference makers. I'm hoping this staff proves me wrong.

Kylee is pretty big at 6'3 and I would consider her a forward which shouldn't be a negative for Krull to join with at WVU. I see that Maddie Krull's teammate at South Dakota, Kyah Watson has also decided to transfer to WVU. As much as I would really like to see Krull join the Beavs, I'm expecting her to announce for WVU any day now.......really hoping I am wrong though. I noticed today that Maddie and Savannah Samuel are social media friends. I don't think we can read anything positive into that. Maddie is following Nebraska WBB, and has friended Jaz Shelley on social media. Maddie is from Nebraska, so perhaps she is headed home. A lot of transfers are headed to their home states this year. And Maddie did decide to go home and play for Nebraska.

SR needs to find a backup post, Mit can't go from 12 min's a game to 40 in one year. If Beers is hugely successful at the 4 and Gardiner at the 3 there still needs to be a back up for them.
I think they are fine with the guards they have but if someone great sticks up their hand then grab 'em.

Seems the trend is a lot of folks heading “home”, or at least to areas more familiar culturally. The transfer portal changes coming at the tail end of a pandemic plus being in the middle of cultural fractures across the nation could be really amplifying the amount of portal entrants. If kids didn’t establish a strong sense of community where they landed, it would have been a rough stretch the last few years.

from Nick Daschel:
Pay close attention to transfer portal news this week. Deadline to enter the portal and remain eligible for next season is May 1 for fall and winter sport athletes.

Yeah, there will probably be a few last minute additions to the portal this week. Hopefully a couple really good players that want to join the Beavs......

If you're into pessimism, these guys got your back: <button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button> There was a coach last year that said he wasn't going to recruit any more high school players, similar to the quote. Can't remember where I saw it. Maybe this fad will slow down next year - but that's what they said last year.

ESPN's transfer rankings list: www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/33803721/women-college-basketball-transfer-rankings-2022-23-season- No surprise that Jones checks in as the No. 3 committed transfer (though I assume she'll drop to around No. 6 once some of the uncommitted to commit). - I'm a little surprised that Brown didn't make the top-30. I personally am not very high on her game, but I think she's in the top 30. - I also think that Yeaney likely could have made the top-30. - Stephanie Visscher would be a great fit at OSU. Hopefully we can get her on a visit. We could use her efficiency and all-around game out on the perimeter.

Morehead State WBB’s entire ‘22 roster is either graduating or transferring out. They have to replace everyone.
