Well, obviously, many of you just shrug off this entire portal thing as just the latest in business as usual. I'm not going to change your mind, and you're certainly not going to change mine. So I will try to limit my future posts on this to individual movements.
I would like to suggest one thing, however. I think the portal is a total clusterf#%&, bad for women's basketball, bad for OSU women's basketball. Would those of you who agree with that take 2 seconds and give it a thumbs up. No comments, no responses, just a thumbs up.
Somebody who disagrees with my opinion, post a similar simple statement expressing the opposite idea. Those who agree with that, give it a thumbs up.
Let's see if we can get a feel for how the participants on this board are split on this.

Bendu Yeaney now mutually following some OSU players on social media. Seems as if she could be coming to Corvallis for her final season, but that means nothing until announced one way or the other. I’m hopeful because her experience and athleticism would be a big help to this team. I won't be surprised if you are right. I kind of expect she is wanting to come home. I might also add that she has been following many OSU former players for quite some time....Syd, Mik, Kat, Maddie, Aleah on twitter, so not a lot new there. It's who she is following on Instagram that catches the eye a bit ...Coaches Hunter and Huth, AJ, Noelle, and Talia. If she does end up a Beav, her playing time will likely depend on who else is brough in. I think she is capable of putting up numbers equal to, or better than, she did while in Indiana.

Barnes mentioned in one of her media interviews that she thought Bendu likely wanted to he closer to home. That along with her longstanding relationship with OSU coaches and the need for her made OSU seem like a really good fit.
It looks like Baylor, Iowa State, and Penn State are all in pursuit of Van Gytenbeek. It appears that OSU may be after Dalayah Daniels as well, which also isn’t a huge surprise. I still think she has a lot of upside on both ends and could be a really good defender for OSU.

Hearing that is confirmed. Expect the standard social media communications within the next day or two. Good person to add. Will help a lot on the defensive end and won’t require many touches offensively. Can get out on the break and finish. Nice add by Rueck.

First, OSU should be more in the “have” category than the “have not”, and it’s seems like their biggest conference competition outside of Stanford has been dealing with more transfers in and out than OSU has - that likely ultimately makes it tougher for them than if they were good at keeping the same great talent around.

When the season ended, and Greta left, I felt the Beavs needed a Homerun in the portal if they were going to make it back to the NCAA tourney next season. When Kennedy, Taylor, and Taya left, that turned the need into a Grand Slam. As much as I am a fan of Coach Rueck and staff, I don't have a lot of faith in them getting the Grand Slam. I'm hoping I'm wrong. Adding Bendu is a good start. I'd call it a single on the way to making it back to the NCAA tournament next season. They still need to add another 4-5 type player, a point/combo guard, and another perimeter player or two. Of those players, someone needs to be able to shoot the 3, and someone needs to be a consistent scoring threat. Maybe the incoming freshman wings will be ready to contribute more than we expect, but that is asking a lot, and would mean you are counting on a lot of freshman to get the program back where you want it.

Hmmm... in a post above the OP sends the message that there are only two "votes"... for or against the portal... a "cluster f%%k".
Well, it may be that simplistic or that it is indeed a cluster, but...
- it's here, not going away anytime soon;
- every team/school dealing with the same issues;
- college students make choices, many change schools. College athletes are no different;
- bitching about it doesn't matter or change a thing. Especially what? A "vote". What a "yeah" or "nay" on this message board means something?
- in terms of OSU WBB, we're an top notch program the portal could be a huge benefit. Assuming SR sees it that way;
A third choice to "vote" for...
- the portal sucks when you lose key players, but since it's part of college sports now let's see if OSU can make it improve every athletic program. *some fans just need to learn to deal with the portal process better!

I don't have a strong opinion on the portal one way or another. I think to a degree it comes down to whose experience is more of a priority, the fans, or the players? For the players I think the portal is generally a positive, for the fans so far it appears to be more of a negative. If a survey was taken of the players I think the vast majority would answer that they are in favor of the portal. If you asked the fan base if the portal is a good thing, I think opinions would be more split, with the majority probably coming out against it. Drastic changes such as NIL and the portal are almost always viewed negatively at first. It will be interesting how people will feel about it 5 years from now.

They need another seasoned player to join Jelena, Tamia, and Raegan, and I agree the upside potential is there. Taylor Bigs appears to be showing mutual interest with Texas Tech.

I don't think your opinion goes far enough. The Transfer Portal and NIL will kill college athletic programs. Within a decade college athletics will disappear replaced by the structure of baseball in the 50s and 60s. For you young pups, professional baseball ... Then we had AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, and Rookie levels. Now we have AAA, AA, A, A-, Rookie.

Non-student athletes are not getting their tuition paid for either. Prior to the portal.....student athletes sign a "letter of intent" with the intention of being there for four years. Somehow, we need to get back to that expectaion!
