Ken Goe makes it sound like the Oregonian let him go. A rare day where Beavs, Ducks, Blazers fans all united.

I didn’t like him because his style was just so simple. His columns aimed for views, which meant he was a gossip columnist/opinion writer working as a sports editor. I would rather he had stayed above it all, but that’s hard to do when you sensationalize everything. In reality, I suspect the media and the times created the man. He rose above neither, but played them both to his advantage. Perhaps that’s good business sense, but I think a lot of people aren’t especially fond of clickbait titles and sports talk with pointless debates. He was not working as a sports editor. He was strictly a columnist. And yes, unfortunately the game is to get as many clicks as possible. Whether you love him or hate him, he did his job.

I haven't watched for awhile, but doesn't that describe a lot of the programming on ESPN? It must be popular with someone.

Smith, etc.....

Maybe he will start a sports talk show in Russia. Hopefully we’ve heard the last of his wind-up-toy Brenda Tracy as well.

Not sure why the hatred toward the guy. He generally says it like it is. Some people don't like the truth especially if it's not favorable to you. Really?!? Then again that explains a lot. Problem is he didn't care about the truth.

But then again George Pasero wouldn't be George Pasero if he was working in today's world Wow. You are an old dude like me! I haven’t heard Pasero’s name in forever. Thanks for bringing back some good memories.

He was a click baiter writer and even when he was called out for making false statements about something he would never correct it or be humble about it and would sometimes just double down. Arrogant as all get out and really thought he had the inside info on everything. He would claim when something came out on Oregon State athletics that his inside source fed him info about it almost real time. "My sources said......." , Maybe so but he claimed he had informants in the Blazer front office and even at the hole. I think he thought he was really something. Allways thought there were conspiracies operating in the back ground. I think the O-live will do a lot better.

Pretty much thought he was the only actual writer they had. Anybody can write the hack stuff everyone else puts out. 'O'live has parlayed into a very sad joke of journalism, as are most outlets anymore. The attention span of the average reader is shorter than this mediocre post.

Not sure why the hatred toward the guy. He generally says it like it is. Some people don't like the truth especially if it's not favorable to you. In 2008, 2 PSU basketball players in Cabo San Lucas for Spring Break were falsely accused of violent assault by a local American "tour guide" and temporarily jailed. Canzano prematurely jumped all over the story and essentially pronounced Morrison guilty of drunkenly sucker-punching a stranger while tossing in a snide slam about his PSU effectiveness. After a day in custody Morrison and his teammate were released with formal apologies from the local police. There was never any retraction, correction or apology from Canzano. That told me everything I needed to know about him. And that's why I say good f**king riddance.

In Columbus, the sports editor did the Mail Bag and special columns like that. I know Canzano did the mail bag, so I assumed he had a larger role in Sports than just a reporter. I still think he would’ve been a better writer before the days of the Internet and clicks for article views. He probably was.
