Me thinks he knows where the future paychecks of sports journalism (not that baldy actually did perform sports journalism) is going to come from. The Oregonian is dying, and it won't be long until they move their operation to a strip mall such as what the Gazette-Times has done.
That being said, for those who canceled their subscriptions to The Oregonian for having baldy on staff, will they re-subscribe now that he's gone?

He was actually capable of good writing. Unfortunately, he succumbed to the, “if it bleeds, it leads…,” mentality. Probably forced. Schmuck fans hated him just as much. Me? Meh. Seemed like a nice, little, bald-headed fella looking for his niche in the world.

I always enjoyed most of his Blazer columns, and he seemed to at least care a little bit and pay attention. I disagreed with him most of the time, but never "HATED" him. Very very curious what happened. And curious to see where he goes. My guess is he asked for a cost of living raise that matches inflation (7% at least) got laughed at and finally had enough of being in "print" journalism.
Is he still doing his radio gig? If so maybe he will invest more into that?

Love Canzano's interviews. Had them all season with Jonathan,Nick Daschel,others on the Bald Faced Truth. His daughter goes to OSU.

Not sure why the hatred toward the guy. He generally says it like it is. Some people don't like the truth especially if it's not favorable to you.

I didn’t like him because his style was just so simple. His columns aimed for views, which meant he was a gossip columnist/opinion writer working as a sports editor. I would rather he had stayed above it all, but that’s hard to do when you sensationalize everything.
In reality, I suspect the media and the times created the man. He rose above neither, but played them both to his advantage. Perhaps that’s good business sense, but I think a lot of people aren’t especially fond of clickbait titles and sports talk with pointless debates.
