14 innings into the season and this looks to be a complete team. Hits for contact, can hit for power. Can play small, they fly around the bases. The defense in the field is...outstanding! The remaining question is pitching depth, and we will find out the answer soon enough. I think I’ll withhold judgment until we play a good team, but so far, so good. |

Gonzaga is in almost all preseason picks for making the tourney.... They’re in that powerhouse baseball conference known as the WCC. |

Our preseason schedule is by no means that challenging. Sort of like a 20 run outing, 10-1 start to a season, and go just over .500 the last 50 games. If Fritsch is actually seriously injured that's 1/3 of the potentially potent starting staff. These first dozen or so games should be Ws or highly a close, competitive loss or two. Especially if this team is a top 4 Pac12 team. A wait and see attitude isn't negativity or skepticism. |

When will that be? UC Irvine? Or our first loss? ;-) Correct. UC Irvine is the first good team that we’ll face. Gonzaga played in the NCAA tournament in 2021, 2018 and 2016, and won a game each time. It advanced to the WCC championship series in 2019. The WCC had a higher conference RPI than the Big West with mighty CSU Fullerton, UCSB and Long Beach State last season. By any metric Gonzaga is a quality baseball program. Irvine has been to one NCAA tournament (2021) in that same time period. |
