We really got blitzed in the last 14 minutes, but that was the most points we’ve scored against Stanford in our last 11 games. That includes teams with Slocum, Pivec, etc. Getting Taylor back, being able to move KB back to the 4, and then adding the incoming freshman will help. However we either need AJ/Greta to really improve their handle, or a transfer who can really handle the ball to take the next step.

One of the contributing factors in our turnover numbers has been the telegraphing of our passes. The defense is reading our eyes and anticipating where and when the ball is going. (e.g. Sam Thomas' righteous swat of Talia's inbound pass at the end of the UA home game)

Agree - was a strange game for this season in that it felt like we struggled much more with getting timely stops than struggling to score, especially through the first 3 quarters.

Ok people reality check there is a reason actually many reasons Stanford is #2 and we aren't ranked. They shoot better, rebound better, pass better, handle the ball better, move better, defend better. Be honest we had no chance.

How does the group feel about the Beaver's chances for the NCAA tournament? My view is given how we have played on the road (not very well at all) and the fact that both Colorado and Utah are higher ranked than we are that we are at best a real long shot. Plus we do not seem to be able to beat anybody by a convincing margin.
On another subject, I have been disappointed in the overall play of Kennedy Brown. She was a highly rated recruit and I had hoped she would be much more of a positive factor than she has been. I have no problem with her effort, it just seems likes she was (a) over rated and (b) has not shown much improvement.
Another observation, it would be great if we were able to have a season where we did not lose a significant player (in this case Taylor Jones)for the whole season.
Also a question for the group, why is it so hard for OSU to recruit a quality point guard?

Thank you for your response. Your observation is probably very accurate. A really talented point guard who is able to beat her defender and penetrate into the key on a regular basis and then dish off to other team mates is not likely to want to be restricted to being directed every time down the floor to run a particular play that Scott directs.

We may end up 10th or 11th or even 12th in the PAC, bummer year, team is totally inconsistent, and cannot make a pass from one player to another. Furd could have won by 40..

WOW! The next thing we'll here from some of these bandwagoners is that OSU WBB shouldn't have won the game in Eugene? Get a grip. We absolutely still have a "good" chance of getting to the NCAA Tournament.

Also a question for the group, why is it so hard for OSU to recruit a quality point guard? I tend to agree that OSU is on the verge of falling out of a tournament bid. OSU's NET is #50. Colorado is #32 and Utah #26. Colorado 11-3 at home and Utah 10-3. I think we need to beat Cal and win both those games on the road, then the first one in the Pac-12 tournament. I'm not sure a road split get them there. I think Brown is going to be a fine defender and defensive rebounder. She'll block some shots. I've been somewhat surprised at her lack of an offensive game though. Maybe it will come. Usually players with strong offensive games make their marks beginning as freshmen though, particularly if they're getting lots of PT. Not always, but more often than not. And has any 4 on a Rueck team ever been much of a scorer? Offensively they seem to be more 3 pt shooters and opportunistic scorers on his teams.

I think brown could be a worry wort. Or to afraid she will fail. Plus she is still only a freshman she is still evolving her place and game. She was probably hoping Taylor would be their to carry the offensive load while she got healed. She has had some ten point games. She had a lot on her plate yesterday just on defense alone and the refs don’t help that. They minimize her way to much she is a good position player. I think she gets upset with the calls!

Response to a couple of things and then a a thought.
As for the NCAA chances, remember the teams you are competing with in the bubble are just like you, middling teams that have had struggles this year. 2-1 to end the year, and win in the pac-12 tourney I think you’re in.
Brown’s biggest issue currently offensively is she’s not a 5. Both Brown’s and Jelena’s big offensive issues start with the fact they aren’t strong enough in the lower body to get good position. Great scorers in the post do their work before they get the ball. Jones, Ruth, Marie all did a great job of getting position. Also, it makes me really appreciate Jones ability to go up strong and finish soft. Her ability to not smoke layups really is a plus.
Finally one thing I was thinking about that makes me more excited about our freshman guards going forward, Wilson to me is the best defensive guard in the conference since Gabby, and TVO was challenged but still found a way to go for 16. The Hull twins are what I imagined Goforth would have grown into, long, relentless athletes that make everything uncomfortable. Both AJ and Greta had some really nice drives and scores. Hoping for continued growth for all 3.
