That would be ideal, except she doesn’t see herself as a post. She is a face up 4 in her mind. I think I remember a quote from her to the effect that she didn't want to go to a program that envisioned her as a back to the basket 5, but wanted to be a face up 4, a la Breanna Stewart. So sort of how she played her freshman year before the ACL. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the 3-ball for that right now. I'm sure she's playing that 5 because of the Jones injury because we need the help there. She is my pick as the one most likely to portal after this season.

We are having these issues not because of "Style of play" or coaching got worse, or whatever. We are struggling because we went 3 years without recruiting a starting level pac-12 guard. Hopefully the freshman will develop and I'd love to see another guard/wing in the portal next year. Shore up the guard play and we will be fine.

Recruiting is Ciaching. He has not had quickness since Destiny. He refuses so far to adapt. Been 3 years like this. We will not challenge until He adjusts. Still believe we need better recruiting assistants. Would like to see us good every year.

A little early in the process to be judging recruiting process when we have just hired two new assistants. For God sake….give them a chance! And what better recruiter could you have for someone that’s been through the process?

She has a better chance of playing the position and the way she wants at Oregon St then she would anywhere else. At another program they would automatically sick her in the post. The one likely to leave is Jelena and I wouldn't blame her. Her biggest issue seems to be insecurity. Scott has a very quick hook where she is concerned and she is afraid she will b pulled out for the slightest error so she plays hesitantly. The more I have watched the program the more I am beginning to believe that Scott has different standards for different players.

But I'd be willing to bet that Taya has always been a favorite of any coach she has played for past or present.

Tell me you meant point guard, or tell me what three years you are talking about. You don't need a recruiting class with a starting level guard if you bring one in via transfer (Destiny). Certainly Sasha and Talia are starting level guards in any conference in the country. Which three years are you talking about?

So starting in the 2018 class. And yes Sasha was starting level, but she's gone now, so we have 3 strait recruiting class' (18,19,20) without a starting caliber guard on our roster.

Ok, I would argue that when you bring in Destiny, (although not a HS recruit) lessons the need for a HS recruit, and Sasha is a top notch guard as well and she was 'on our roster'. But you are totally correct that we have a shortage of talented experience at guard right now. Perhaps SR shot for the stars in 2020 when he chased Clark, Bueckers, VanLith, and Goforth, He definitely went for it. Hopefully SR has learned a lesson through what has happened in recent years. I'm talking about talent transferring out (Sasha, Destiny) and extended injuries (Kat, Jelena, Taya, Kennedy, Taylor) etc. SR hasn't liked using all available scholarships, and I understand where he was coming from. He didn't have major injuries during much of his tenure, and he didn't want players to be unhappy sitting on the bench. Now, it's obvious why being deep in talent is important to a program. Injuries and transfers have hurt the Beavs in recent seasons. Let's hope transfers will be as positive this offseason as the 2022 recruiting class was.

Rmancarl makes a very important point here, I believe. Continuity is so crucial to success in basketball. The Final Four team was senior heavy. In the Rueck era, the greatest years had teams with substantial junior and senior leadership, with a sprinkling of young players in starting roles and other young players who wouldn't hit their key contributions until their junior and senior years.
Think of how different this season might be with the new young players being worked in rather than forced into leadership roles. How would this year be right now with a starting lineup that includes Aleah Goodman, Sasha Goforth, and Taylor Jones. All three had eligibility this year. I don't fault Aleah's personal choice to get on with her life, but that choice along with transfer and injury have produced a team that is very talented, but not yet quite "ripe."
I agree that a major lesson from these times is that, as distasteful as it can be on some levels, there needs to be a deeper stockpiling of players.

16 turnovers - Tea had 5 of them ( not good for a point guard ) TVO had 3 because she forces some passes and dribbles right into here defender . I recall how Sydney Wiese used to dribble with the ball away from the defender ( sideways ) , and then would catch and shoot from the same position. Very unorthodox - but VERY effective . Seems kind of strange to think that Rueck was the one that drove the interest in PAC 12 basketball ( wbb ), and now that has made it tougher for us to compete and win. Now, it's time for us to up our game again ! What? Beavs are going to be in bottom half of P12, I'm thinking 7th or 8th in P12. Playing like they are now, and will almost assuredly lose at least 3 of the next 4, maybe all of them, no way we are going to be in top half. We could fall to 9th or 10th, look who we've lost to, or barely beat. We're heading the wrong direction like a locomotive and the team seems lost or confused way too often. The heralded freshmen aren't playing much and are not performing at anything close to P12 level, we're in trouble. With brings up the inevitable link to transfer portal. After a down year, which we are definitely having, it seems likely there will be some transfers, and they might be some of the starters and freshmen that haven't developed or gotten playing time. Sorry for the rant, just finished watching the UA game and watching us get schooled like grade school kids by a bully. Neutral court somebody said, still same outcome imo.. Faster, and more critically, WAY more aggressive!! We looked like we had no idea what to do!!

I sure hope the OSU WBB Team Members haven't punted on the season like some here. There remains great opportunity to improve their NET ranking prior to the NCAA Tournament with the remaining regular season schedule and the PAC-12 Tournament. It ain't over until it's over.
