Yep - guess all that confusion also leads one to think the top scoring team in the conference has a middling OC. You’d be hard pressed to find any non-OSU fan who thinks this lowly of BL. really confused how you can find 4 better OCs, than the OC for the top scoring team in the Pac-12, that has topped 40 points in half their games. Any issues we have had on offense are almost singularly due to sketchy QB play number one, and a little bit of sketchy WR play. Everything else has basically been top notch. We are then #8 rushing offense in the nation. Since we started Pac12 play the passing game hasn't looked good in the UW & WSU games. So I think Lingren could be criticized for those subpar games. I think we were last in conference passing entering this game (I'm talking Pac 12 games only) at 139 yds per game. Our 2nd half passing attack made plays tonight. The run game is simply magnificent.

You counter none of my points with anything other than we score a lot. Ok, but so far I've not seen a ton of great defense being played in the Pac12, add to that 87 points vs two non-P5 teams. I'll stick with BL being very inconsistent and being middle tier at this time. So who are the 5-6 offensive coordinators who are better in the conference, who are underperforming enough to all have production worse than what Lindgren has?

And, part of the passing game issue is the QB room. You or someone mentioned some talent issues and QB is one. That said, there's been too many times where the game has been put in Nolan's hands vs the hands of the OL/RBs. And, those times seem exaggerated as OSU really doesn't throw much. But, even tonight when the 2nd passing game made big plays, head scratchers. Trying to run the clock out very late we throw the ball to the TE?? Complete yes. Forces Utah to call last time out. But it wasn't for 1st down yardage and could have saved them a time out. Or worse, sack, another fumble, tip, pick When earlier I'm guessing the staff eschews a FG attempt or pooch punt for safety reasons... no blocks, returns, momentum swing. That play call makes zero sense. A handoff gets you the same result with far less risk. Anyway... I'm positive OSU is bowling and that was the goal this fan set for year 4. Hopefully we all see growth from here on out.

Is underperforming mean they score less? You do know teams don't have common opponents and some OCs have faced better overall defenses that OSU? But, top of head, no particular order I'd take these guys anytime; Ludwig/Utah (although he was bad tonight) Moorhead/Oregon Harrell/SC Hill/ASU Three are also considered outstanding recruiters.

Both tonight and against UW, Jonathan coached like an NFL coach, he squeezed the air out of the game ball and gave the opponent little to no chance to snatch a victory late in the game. He definitely knows he has a punishing ground game, and he knows how to use it to great effect.
IDK what happened against Wazzu, I was out of the country and missed the game… blame me for jinxing the team.

Most points points given up by Utah in 5 years. This Beav team has flaws no doubt, but damn it’s great to watch a team that’s balls like these guys do.

rgeorge has some interesting perspectives. I agree with some of them. He kind of reminds of a guy that "marched to a different drummer" named baseball1111. In so, so, so many ways.

I'm just gonna enjoy the ride. Best Beaver football season since 2007 or 2008 IMO...maybe 2012.

Yep our coordinators are garbage. Thank god we’ve recruited near the top of the conference the last several years to mitigate these deficiencies. Oh wait.

Beautiful game to me. All’s well that ends well! Best game of the season! "Best" doesn't always mean stats or great execution. This game was more than that. Better than that. This game was what programs build rock solid foundations on. Adversity from outside sources overcome. Adversity of poor play and self inflicted "wounds" overcome. Physical play that did lead to some penalties, but OSU stayed physical. Emotion was mostly under control and focused and lasted 60 minutes. And, nearly as good as the win, was that it happened in a house full of recruits! I agree with your perspective.....while the win at USC was huge, this one was a big stepping stone for our team. Gotta love how these guys didn’t get rattled after spotting the Utes a 14 - 0 lead. The after game interview with Baylor was cool and when they asked his parents to join him spoke volumes for that young man. He gave great kudos to the offensive line.....what a great team player.

Although dripping with elementary level sarcasm. No one here said they'd be shocked, it wasn't possible, Utah was unbeatable. You play the game because anything is possible. To keep it simple, it was stated earlier, one team was trending up, one trending down severely. Coming off a bye there were tons of unknowns. Realistic rationale existed to doubt this win, which doesn't equate to not wanting OSU to win or think it's possible. As for the coordinators: -the D gave up 34, could have easily been 51. I'll give the players credit for stopping 5-6 plays from the 2 yd line on two separate occasions. But, with almost 100% certainty I'll say if Utah runs the ball vs throwing the ball 5 times they score. The D was misaligned, running players off and on late, players were confused on several plays, not to mention several killer penalties. All on the DC? It's his D, credit and blame falls there. And, in my opinion he's in the bottom tier in Pac12 DCs and it really matches his resume. As like tonight it seems to take 35+ to have a chance to win. That's just not sustainable. - Tibs, again in my opinion, is middle of the pack in the Pac12. I'd name at least 4 better OCs (maybe 1-2 others that I think are more consistent) , but it makes no difference as it's opinion. My basis is plain erratic, sometimes seemingly random play calling. Example, tonight we ran a range of formations and players on fly sweeps. A more vulnerable run D at WSU, I'm not sure if there was more than one. Gash teams for 7-8 yards on 1st, throw PA screen to short side to put yourself in a must make 3rd and 3. Some gutsy calls, too many head scratchers vs defenses OSU is handling with the run. So, after OSU goes "bowling" if there were openings I'm pretty sure neither guy gets hired away by a team better than OSU. But, if I'm wrong feel free to snark away. It’s just my opinion, but I could name 12 OC’s better than Tibs in the PAC-12.😉

I'm shocked we were able to defeat the best-coached team, with the best coaches, in the Pac-12, especially with two coordinators who rank in either the bottom half (O) or bottom third (D) of the Pac-12. I guess you just never know. Although dripping with elementary level sarcasm. No one here said they'd be shocked, it wasn't possible, Utah was unbeatable. It’s just my opinion, but I could name 12 OC’s better than Tibs in the PAC-12.😉 Its our defense that has issues and Tibesar can't seem to coach , Its great having a slug fest that you win in the end but putting your team in that position game after game . I think it would be more rewarding to win games that you don't trade points in than those you do . Sooner or later trading points and spotting the other team 14 points will catch up to you

We are not ready to go toe to toe with Georgia, maybe Alabama, and maybe Texas a&m ( because of our coordinators?). Against every other team in the country we would have a realistic chance. I'd love to see us play Cincinnati or Oklahoma. If you can't see the staggering improvement, the energy these guys bring, and are able to enjoy this ride, I'd suggest you take a deep internal look.

Not worried about Tibs, but Lindgren will be pursued. There’s no way a guy that has OSU’s talent leading the conference in YPG and points scored, and in the top 10 nationally in 3rd down conversions isn’t being given a serious look by and program needing an upgrade at OC.
