Why is questioning of the coaching all directed at the pitching decisions? We scored 1 run...the main issue is still with bats. Had numerous chances early on with runners in scoring position and couldn’t come up with a key hit. Couldn’t even put the ball in play at times. That is the main issue right now. Yes ! ... If we score runs we could have won that game. Beavs need to be more aggressive. I’m not sure if it’s coaching or lack of bat talent... a couple guys have come through.... Melton, the Mullet, Andy at times.... But overall there is just no one an opposing team has to worry about. So pitchers get in grooves and the Beavs are helpless. Cant win games scoring 0 -1 runs

Tough crowd. We're a projected one seed in the tournament. Getting some untested guys pressure innings may pay off later in the year. It's a long season guys. One of my criticisms of Casey/Yeskie was that they only had like one maybe two relievers they trusted and as a result some starters ended up throwing a ton of pitches and you're kind of limited in who you can go to late. Just because it didn't work out last night doesn't mean it was a bad decision. Ummm... people projecting that have not watched the Beavs play

Judge you bring up the other part of the equation with this team. How many batters had the opportunity to get a base hit or even put the ball in play with runners in scoring position - Only one was successful and that was in the 8th inning. This game was not an anomaly and puts more pressure on the pitching staff.

After this series, and the non conf series with the quacks.....oof
And if you look at '21, '22, and '23 recruiting rankings so far, the quacks are ahead of us

I say this respectfully to everyone on this board, especially to those who I'm sure know a hellava lot more about the game of baseball and this particular team than I do: Whatever you think you know about baseball and the particulars of each member of this team, Mitch Canham and his coaching staff is likely to know a lot more. Not like a little more either. Huge amounts more. Magnitudes more. Think about it. The coaching staff pretty much live with the players. They know nuances of each and every player, what they ate for breakfast, what's troubling them any given day, etc. Certainly they have lived baseball their ENTIRE lives. Old school baseball, new ways of analytics, everything. The have lived it 24/7/365. I for one am not qualified to question or comment on their decisions even though I have been exposed to this game for many many years, it's not the entire focus of my life. Moreover, I don't even know a single one of the players even remotely. I respect everyone who posts on this board. It really is a good place to hear the opinions of what I consider overall a group with considerable baseball knowledgeable. Also, I do appreciate "stirring the pot" because it's commensurate with getting better every day. Each baseball decision is based on dozens of facts. How many facts are you weighing when posting? 2? 5? 10? Not questioning anyone in particular. Just ask yourself. Get ur point, but we're getting owned by the ducks no matter how u slice it

I have see some bad decisions that MC made. I am afraid he isn’t the answer for this baseball program. Won’t get fired for at least 2 full season. He is another Jimmy Anderson, the way I see so far this season. The Ducks are doing well with new coach even their players aren’t as good as MC’s players. So disappointing with this team.

Dang, we should of had you on the hiring committee in stead of Pat.

The guy hasn’t even finished coaching a year of Beaver baseball and you already want him gone? And the team is in the top third of the conference and has a top 25 ranking. Be realistic.

Baseball is a finicky sport. The best team doesn’t always win, the best players don’t always win. The difference between a HR and a soft fly is 3/8”. Players have to hit their way out of slumps. Balls take funny hops, and get lost in the lights... “it’s baseball”
MC is smart. He was the heart and soul of two NC teams, an up and coming professional coach. Saint Pat anointed him “The Man”. But like all young coaches, he is learning. He is juggling stats vs his gut feeling. He is transitioning from MiLB to the college game.
So we lost two games; two series to the ucks. I have faith in Canham, Wong, Dorman and we will be better in June, when s%#t gets important.

It sucks to lose the ucks. Can't spin that one. We're used to owning them. MC would look a lot better if the Beavs would start getting some clutch hits and stop walking/hitting batters. MC is still new to college coaching. Give him a chance to coach a full season and then judge him. There's gonna be peaks and valleys.

We have been bringing guys in from the pen for one inning all year. I am puzzled by the surprise and dismay of the strategy. Nobody was complaining about it two weeks ago when 4 pitchers combined on a no hitter against the Huskies. Our problem right now is strike zone management at the plate. We don't hit off speed stuff very well and we don't know when to lay off of it.

I'm not worried about Coach Canham, and the reason is last season, had it been a full season, would have been a bigger mess than what we're seeing now. Those performances in February and early March were not pretty, and you can only imagine just how bad it was going to be against Pac-12 competition. This season is better, maybe not by leaps and bounds, but its a year-to-year improvement. And now that we have an established head coach, expect a stable core of recruits coming in.

MC is a different coach than Mr Casey and is LEARNING at the same time his players are learning/displaying their talents. Some will improve, some will not. Can't know that until you are put in the pressure cooker. Better to know it now than find out in a regional win or go home. My hope is that everyone on the team is not satisfied at where they are. Losing hurts, losing the the smucks is killing me and I'm only a fan. Go Beavs, win the next one....or twenty..

Welp, owning the state in at least one sport was fun while it lasted. I guess there is still wrestling, by default.

I don't think I'm alone on that. It was a legendary coach against 'The Brand'. In fact, every $%#&@% sport at OSU is recruiting against and battling 'The Brand'. Wins against them in anything has always been sweet but it may be even sweeter these days as we rage against the machine :-) I have no opinion of MC other than he was a great leader as a player and hoping he'll be the same as a coach. Time will tell.
