So sad to see Savannah leaving, I believe she was set to launch into star status, she had all the tools. I'm a boomer and am distressed at the "800+" number of girl transfers, the transfer portal will hurt college sports no doubt, it was a factor in Roy Williams decision to retire at North Carolina, it is unfortunate that in a lot of these explanations for players leaving, it is void of discussion of "team" "community" or loyalty to their University, it's mostly what's "best for me" which illustrates the generational divide between boomers & Gen X'ers vs. Millennials. Covid was a big inconvenience for students, my daughter (OSU) did not get a formal graduation, but lets have some perspective here, it's not the great depression, WWII, Vietnam or 9-11.....Covid was a bump in the road of life, trust me there will be ALOT more trying events in these kids lives than a virus. Go BEAVS!

If they were so isolated during the school year, why did they get shut down 2x for Covid reasons? And the most isolated team in the country won the National Championship. Stanford spent 86 straight days in a hotel room and played most of their "home" games in Santa Cruz.

I don't want to hold on to false hope, but I haven't seen anything on social media from Savannah about leaving. Has anyone else?

It's official that she's looking. From more media savvy friends I'm told it's goodbye when it's out in social media.

She showed so much potential was rock solid on defense. Wish her well she will be a good one. Kind of a domino of Sasha leaving pretty sure. +1 I did not get to see a bunch of OSU games, but what I did see I liked from Samuels. Hustle and skill. Goforth might have been better this year, but I thought Samuels was set to rise up and exceed Goforth next year. Sorry that OSU women's basketball loses these talented players - for whatever reason. Wish them well in the future.

Times have changed. About 40 years ago some guy named Lester conner was being recruited by the beavs and pretty much every other school in the country. The beavs were playing in the bay area and Lester was playing in the area. Jimmy Andersen was recruiting Lester and pretty much begged Ralph to come and watch conner play. Ralph rarely went to watch a recruit but went in this situation. Conner had a typical game for himself double double. After the game Ralph talked with Lester and pointed out all the things he did wrong in the game. Lester had never had anybody give him That kind of critique. Shortly thereafter Lester signed with the beavs. In today's world I believe few players get that kind of reality as parents and coaches are stroking the ego of their son/daughter/player. Luckily for the Beavs Lester accepted it.

Gill was amazing!

Holly Samuel posted online "Scott’s system is controlled, I would not describe it as disciplined or structured. Very controlled". I don't know about Savannah, but I'd say her mother has no interest in her coming back to OSU 🤣😂😜.

These type of parents are there when their 7 year old is playing youth basketball and the parent thinks their kid is the next lillard and apparently continues when their kid is 18/19.

Who knows how she arrived at these conclusions, but, to some great extent, it had to be feedback she was getting from Savannah. She (the mother) wasn't here, so she wasn't observing things first hand. I have no idea whether she had an ongoing dialogue with Scott about Savannah, whether she knows much about basketball, or what her thinking is. She's probably a very nice woman.
Anyway, somebody posted somewhere a few of the schools that had expressed interest in her, and, as expected, they were lower tier programs. As I've stated, her 2 options are either going to be attempting to become a big fish in a small pond, or trying to work it out with Scott and attempting to become a mid-sized fish in a big pond. Even in high school, she was never destined for big fish/big pond; no matter what happens, I hope she comes to recognize that.
If she does work it out and stay here, no hard feelings from me; if she proceeds with the transfer, no hard feelings there either. Same in both cases toward her mother.
If she does leave, however, my interest in her future career will drop to near zero, as with Destiny and as with Sasha.

Sounnds like you might decribe her parenting skills as controlled, not structured or disciplined. Seriously though, I love Savannah's athletic ability, but her shooting stats this year were ugly. Had she not been controlled, they probably would have been much worse. A couple years of 'controlled' learning would of really been good for her.
Hey, she loves her daughter, but leave the coaching to the experts. Scott's not perfect, but he is obviously one of the better coaches in the country and his success at Oregon State and George Fox have proved that.
