Wondering if the plan was to go to OSU for a year of experience because we don't have room for you this year, then transfer back for your sophomore year. Just wondering! How to use the transfer portal.

No point in thinking she was initially torn between the 2 schools, and decided she made the wrong choice for her. Would she have arrived at that realization had this been a normal year? Who knows? There's tons of different scenarios and dynamics that are possible, and we're never going to know what was actually going through her head.
So I'm just going to look at it as though we were locked in a tough recruiting battle with Arkansas, and they won it - just a year late.
We still have a solid nucleus, and some great recruits lined up for 2021 and 2022. Let's see what improvements we can make for next year's team via the transfer portal, and move on. Who knows who the staff is talking to? One week ago, nobody knew Sasha would be a Razorback today - except Mike Neighbors. Maybe some other school doesn't know yet that somebody is transferring, but Scott does.
Might as well think positively; no point in doing otherwise.

I got homesick once. Of course I was 10 years old and at Geoff Petrie's basketball camp. Even then I sucked it up and ended up learning a lot about basketball and life. She is an adult and should act like one. Commitments are made to follow through on, what are these kids learning? When the going gets tough, quit. Her mental health is more important than her commitment to OSU WBB. If she was depressed, sad, and missed her family, then she made the best choice to return home and be surrounded by her family.

It's through adversity and challenges that you mature and grow into an adult. It's by honoring your committments that you strengthen yourself as a person not by putting your tail between your legs and running away. I'm extremely disappointed in Sasha. Is she going to runaway that next time she faces a hardship? There are plenty of opportunities to go home for vacations (Summer, Xmas, Spring, Thanksgiving). She should have toughed it out.

Lefty: I do not know if you are trying to sound galactically ignorant, but you've done a pretty good job. GO BEAVS!!

Lefty's disappointment in Sasha is, in my opinion, a bit narrow minded and old school. A talented college student-athlete now has the ability to leave a situation in which she may be unhappy (or at least less happy) and join a WBB program that is closer to home and plays the type of up tempo offense that she prefers. I think that us OSU WBB fans have to acknowledge that the very controlled offensive schemes and general slower pace of OSU's offense will continue to limit some top recruits and top players from either signing with the Beavs or staying four seasons in Corvallis. Goforth's commitment to OSU isn't like enlisting in the Army. She has options if the experience isn't what she had hoped for and/or if she perceives a need to be closer to her family in Arkansas. Her college coaches can accept other opportunities during Goforth's collegiate career, so I am okay with Goforth doing what is available to and may be best for her. Times have changed and the collegiate student-athlete now has better options to find a better fit rather than be "stuck" at a college he/she selected at age 17 or even younger.

No, there were not ANY opportunities for the last 12+ months...due to COVID. Family couldn't see her either. Players in IN and TX were quarantined in their hotels...couldn't have contact with family members they were maybe seeing for the 1st time in a year at the games. Athletes have much more stringent rules than the average person/student. There was an article or TV quick hit regarding the Hull sisters return to WSU.(I think) A picture of them holding their family dogs. Mentioned there were no pictures of them with their parents because they couldn't be within 6 feet of them! And they were some of the lucky athletes. This last year has been weird and hard on everyone.

Basically confirmed my priors. The pandemic made a difficult situation untenable. She basically likes everything about the program except it's distance from home. Not much really could have been done.

I really think the Beavs offense fit Sasha's game pretty well, and although the Beavs do employ a controlled offense overall, once they started jelling this season, they definitely took advantage of opportunities to play more up tempo, and had a decent scoring average overall. Surprising, when I looked at this, the Beavers averaged more points per game than the Ducks this season. I really think the majority of this decision was based on homesickness, but the reality is, it's a mute point now. It hurts though. Sasha was a favorite of mine to watch, and is going to be a great one!

Obvious She wants to play for Family. Also Oregon is one of the most extreme Lock Down Left Wing States without a doubt. That culture could work against us when the player is from a more Conservative area like Arkansas. The portal is to easy and we will have to deal with it and fill the roster. This effects all schools. I wish Her well.

If she's going to be happier in Arkansas, then so be it, more power to her, she only has one life and only has five years in it to play college basketball. Her father's well-thought out tweet thread explained the situation pretty clearly. Distance from home combined with the Covid restrictions were a tough combination. Had it been a normal year, it might have turned out differently.
Wish her the best, and wish her future success. No one player, even a potentially great one, is bigger than the program. We move on.
