I got homesick once. Of course I was 10 years old and at Geoff Petrie's basketball camp. Even then I sucked it up and ended up learning a lot about basketball and life. She is an adult and should act like one. Commitments are made to follow through on, what are these kids learning? When the going gets tough, quit. Her mental health is more important than her commitment to OSU WBB. If she was depressed, sad, and missed her family, then she made the best choice to return home and be surrounded by her family.

She moved across the country in a pandemic. None of the normal life of a college student was possible for her, so she couldn't really get plugged in to the Corvallis community. In addition, we don't know if she might have been one of the players to get Covid, and if she got sick, by herself, across the country, that could be difficult. She played hard and gave it her all to OSU basketball, that's all we can ask. If she feels another school is a better fit for her, I wish her the best. Nothing different than any of us deciding to change jobs, move ETC for any reason at all.

Maybe, but I think it can actually hurt her in the long run in terms of building self-confidence and self-reliance. I lived overseas a few times during college, and they were difficult experiences, but they were extremely helpful to me in the long run. It is very isolating when you don't speak the language well or understand the culture. 4 of her teammates are going through far more isolating experiences overall than she did, and the vast majority of them at least the equivalent. Not saying this is necessarily the case here, but I've personally seen the outcomes of 'lawnmower' parenting in my own extended family (also who played D1 sports far from home), and it creates a rough road for kids in their mid-late 20s if they don't fight through it themselves.

You survived an entire week away from you folks. Well done, and I'm sure many life-lessons were learned.

Will she have to sit out a year? Nope, as long as she meets a couple simple rules like be enrolled in the new school. Ncaa has announced a blanket waiver for anyone transferring this year to go with the this year doesn't count rule. There will be record number of transfers.

Meh, Scott and our program will always be better than what Neighbors has, even if he keeps poaching transfers from us.

Time to move on Beaver WBB Fans. Sasha is on to Arkansas, and, we need to move on to next year's squad. Hoping Coaches will find a solid guard in the portal that has a lot of years of eligibility remaining. Coaches get paid to coach, so let's support coaches and the players we have for next season.

The very reason the "sit out a year" rule exists. Totally get why it was waived this year, but I suspect the following season will not see the flurry of movement because the consequence of waiting a year to play is back in the equation.
I wish Sasha good luck. She was fun to watch and I hope she finds her joy at Arkansas.

Brown returning, and Taya as a Senior and Taylor / Jelana, Beavs have a good frontcourt/backcourt balance........ ....but only if injury free. If Ellie Mack returns, all the better.

A lot of over-analysis going on IMO. She was homesick and decided to go to a school closer to home, pretty simple. As for those thinking she needed to keep her commitment or toughen-up, opinions about what others should do with their lives are easy to make.

Her and Jersey are going to make quite a nice pair. Arkansas just took a major step forward.
