Man, this is tough one. She looked dynamic. She can really drive the lane and get to the hoop. Was looking forward to her taking her game to the next level in orange and black. Someone is gonna get a good one!

Have been trying to put myself in her shoes, and besides the obvious COVID and school issues, it seems a confluence of many factors which led to her final decision to leave ! However , one thing not ‘mentioned ‘, that may have tipped her over the edge, was the arrival of TVO and all of the media hype over her ‘game’. I believe that a lot of that may have been over the top - especially given that SASHA was also playing at an extremely high level and deserved to be mentioned in the same breath ! Not at all a situation where SG felt like she was not capable of staying on top of things, but rather having to endure all of the TVO adulation while her game, in her style - was equal - if not better- in some games ! So, not the only reason - but feeling under appreciated was a piece . JMO ! You know her personally? Sounds like you are saying she was jealous (and thus insecure). I don't know her, but somehow I doubt it.

That being said I don't think TVO had anything to do with it I think she missed her pops and unlike most years where someone misses home and there are ramifications that keep them at the school that recruited them and they work through it this year there is an out free of charge and she took it. Best of luck to her she is awesome but we will move forward and have a great team.

A couple of thoughts:
1) Isolation - There were several Scott Rueck interviews related to TVO where he said that he either didn't encourage or discouraged TVO from coming early because of worry of her being isolated and having a bad experience. It now appears that Scott knew that this wasn't a hypothetical problem, but was probably aware that Sasha was struggling (and maybe others on the team too). He probably recognized the risk of losing 4 great years of a player from having a difficult first year (or half year) experience.
2) Game Face - I'm not a body language expert, but some of the comments about 'lack of joy' on the court I'm not sure I buy. There are some players that do show emotion on the court (Kat Tudor often, and Ellie Mack smiling almost every time she 'sells' a foul and is going to the line), and there are others that don't. Mik Pivec is one who rarely showed emotion on the court and people usually called it a positive (ice in her veins, can't be rattled, etc.), but I never got the impression that this game face was related to unhappiness. Maybe a moot point now, but I don't think we should assume that every player from now with a good game face is a flight risk.

I haven't seen anything on social media from players or coaches about Sasha leaving. Has anyone one else? Personally not the most modern Media savvy person in the world. Wonder if the coaches are trying to get her to change her mind? There have been a couple of examples of this and it actually worked out well in the end.

She's gone.

Immediately after Savannah sank a half court shot in practice.

Totally agree with your 'game face' thoughts, or just regular face for that matter. I don't think Sasha's face during the game indicated in any way how she felt off the court. Best I can tell from watching her history, that's just her look. What was obvious was how she would mention how she missed her Dad/family, but I still thought she would stick it out. I think the isolation and lack of the great OSU fans in the stands really hurt.

Her and Jersey are going to make quite a nice pair. Arkansas just took a major step forward.

Hope I'm wrong but I don't foresee this working out well for Sasha. A defense first gal going to play for a team that's not sure what this "defense" thing is?

I'm really surprised by this - didn't they really try to keep her there right out of HS in the first place? There must have been a reason why she decided to go across the country originally.
I really don't like the pipeline to Arkansas. Going to have to break their hearts again in the CWS.

I really don't like the pipeline to Arkansas. Going to have to break their hearts again in the CWS. She appeared to have been pretty torn between Oregon State and Arkansas. Despite the distance, our staff and roster (Taylor, Kennedy, Taya, Aleah, etc.) was enough of a difference to get her out here. She really liked Neighbors - even thanking him specifically in her commitment post. Apparently she knew it was going to be hard, but it was harder than she expected and made worse by the pandemic.

I got homesick once. Of course I was 10 years old and at Geoff Petrie's basketball camp. Even then I sucked it up and ended up learning a lot about basketball and life.
She is an adult and should act like one. Commitments are made to follow through on, what are these kids learning? When the going gets tough, quit.
