I understand your point. However, as good as that Final 4 team was in 2016....it wouldn't come close today in making the Final 4! Women's basketball in 2016 is not quite what it is in 2023! Oregon State was lucky that they got in on being good at the early stages of women's basketball taking off! But...I'm not saying either that it takes a bunch of 5* players to become elite. You’re right Bob,because of NIL and the way UConn,South Carolina,LSU,etc can buy the players off of other teams rosters. I don’t expect osu to be a contender for a final 4 run like they were for a stretch. Make the tournament in a brutally tough conference,and be able to compete most years in the tournament. The landscape certainly has changed… I don't know about UConn but TCU managed to convince two players who'd decided to retire to change their minds. That's got to take some serious cash. |
