So, just how many Top 50 kids do you think SR has landed that it will diminish so badly? I do not search recruiting sites, but I can recall maybe (8) total over the last 6 seasons counting the 2023 class. Of those I can recall only three stayed put... TVO, TG, & RB (so far). There are plenty of non P5 WBB teams that litter the top 25-50 teams. They also litter the top NCAA RPI teams all without landing what fans think are classes that lead to automatic success. The recruiting drop off is more that other Pac12 teams have passed OSU in being viable sources for PT and success. And, that was long before any of the conference mess. WSU, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, SC, and now seemingly UW have improved in all facets of their programs. OSU has added some "name" classes in the past few years, but the program has fallen behind despite that. As far as Gonzaga... (yes, family ties) perfect example of landing a few top 100's every few years and being in the NCAA consistently. I believe 2015-16 is the last time they did not win 23+ games. Only the 4th time that has happened since 2002-03 when Graves got the them rolling... 18, 18, 28, 16, 24, 25, 27, 29, 31, 28, 27, 29... Fortier takes over... 26, 19, 26, 27, 29, 28, 23, 27, 28 1st or 2nd in the WCC for 20 of those years... NCAA 13 of last 15 years. Weaker conference? Yep, but play solid NC schedules. In fact compare their '23-24 with OSU's!! No idea if a "merger" will happen, but OSU WBB could easily be the Zags of that conference and NOT have to land the lauded big name recruits all seem so enamored with. Since landing Pivec, Rueck has pretty consistently landed at least one (occasionally two) top-40 or so recruits. OSU has probably been fourth or so in the Pac-12 in recruiting in that soan behind Stanford, Oregon, and UCLA (plus Arizona has come on strong in recent years). Hard to see OSU maintaining that if they end up in the MWC. It really all depends on what rankings you look at (for example, if you look at CGBR, which has Hunter in the top-25, you’d say 2023 was a pretty typical OSU class), but I feel like there’s been a bit of a drop off in terms of interest in these past two classes. I think turning into a Gonzaga-type program if OSU does move into the MWC would be the best hope for the program. Yeah, rating/ranking sites are a joke as folks have talked about before. Nice to get highly thought of recruits, but as we seen around the NCAA, they don't always live to the supposed hype, "fit" a culture/system, and/or stick.

You said (LOL) that you could only recall three top 50 recruits in recent years who stayed (LOL). I (LOL) was simply pointing out a few that you overlooked (LOL). I made no comment either way about any opinions expressed in any post on this thread. LOL My post was in response, yours was too... but you just being pedantic on an point not truly relevant to the issue. But, I'll stick by my post as it involved a complete response to a post and it's salient points. I guess when you don't read or do and have no intelligent opinion on a post pedantic works for you! LOL

Kennedy Brown comes to mind and all of that initial hype.

All of the Unsigned have put out a list of those they are considering. OSU is not on any of those lists.

Most of the players on the list are 5 star and a few 4 stars. It doesn't look like they are going to bag one. Hopefully they have some backup plans. LOI day is only 6 weeks away.

South Carolina snagged Tac off that list as well. They are getting as boring as UConn used to be, seems like most of the top prospects want to go play for Dawn.
Also Britt Prince is staying local with Nebraska.

Do we have a snowball's chance of landing a top 25 player?

Do we have a snowball's chance of landing a top 25 player? I highly doubt it. Until our situation gets resolved I don't anticipate getting a top 50 recruit.

How many top 25 high school prospects were on the Final 4 team for osu Wbb? Maybe Weisner and McWilliams…my point is the Scott doesn’t need elite high school recruits to put together a team who is very competitive nationally. Didn’t we just get a number of high 4 and 5 star athletes the last 5 years, and that isn’t always the answer to success. Get a combination of international players,3* players sprinkled with a few 4* players and a couple key transfers, and osu will be a tournament team. Getting 5* athletes…be careful what you ask for.

I understand your point. However, as good as that Final 4 team was in 2016....it wouldn't come close today in making the Final 4! Women's basketball in 2016 is not quite what it is in 2023! Oregon State was lucky that they got in on being good at the early stages of women's basketball taking off! But...I'm not saying either that it takes a bunch of 5* players to become elite.

That's a pretty bold claim in your first sentence bro, and I guess we'll have no way of ever knowing. All I know is that, outside of the Beaver Nation faithful, practically nobody gave them a chance in hell of beating Baylor - and look what happened.
You never know until the games are actually played.

You’re right Bob,because of NIL and the way UConn,South Carolina,LSU,etc can buy the players off of other teams rosters. I don’t expect osu to be a contender for a final 4 run like they were for a stretch. Make the tournament in a brutally tough conference, and be able to compete most years in the tournament. The landscape certainly has changed…
