Yeah, let’s take a scholarship that will never be used away from a girl who comes from a poor family and third country that has a heart condition that way she can likely never finish college. Y’all are following the wrong team if you want that to happen. Maybe we should just scholarship a bunch of poor girls for charity? This is D1 basketball. And you wonder why they’ve been passed by 7-8 teams in the league. Explain how keeping her on scholarship has affected our position in the Pac-12. |

I know it sounds good but why is a scholarship being wasted on Aquino? The scholarship does not count against our limit of 15. Medically unable to play. I think the scholarship counts until the the player medically retires. Then, the scholarship doesn't count. Aguino hasn't medically retired. 15 scholarships is a lot. |

Gee wiz I never thought that some Beaver fans could be so heartless. Remember Scotts motto. We are Family !! Scott recruited her out of a bad situation and she came to Corvallis with the hope of playing D1 basketball. It was just unfortunate that from a physical they discovered a heart problem. Would you kick your sister out of the house if she came down with a medical problem. Google --Hank Gathers-- and read the story about his life and the game of basketball.

Judge Smails self esteem classes are working! In the past he talked about how he played and coached, which made him an expert on basketball..... now he is foot taller than Scott. Let him go with it, he feels better about himself!!

back to the actual topic, this likely wasn't a W even with Destiny here.
Pac-12 WBB has become a tough league to build a team to construct against. I defense of Rueck, he has to recruit players that work for his system, and his system isn't particularly strong against some of the systems he now regularly competes against. Historically, his teams have struggled against very physical defenses that ASU played, and a lot more teams in the league can defend that way it seems. Additionally, the approach of keeping teams in front of you but not forcing TOs doesn't work well if you cannot keep the opposition's shooting % down or keep them off the offensive boards. This years team has all the typical Rueck team weaknesses (lots of TOs), but lacks its historical strengths as well (good team rebounding, efficient shooting).
While I agree we don't see much going on in terms of adapting, I don't see this team having the players to do something different than Rueck's typical approach that would yield more success. When the most athletic player on the roster goes 0-8, it doesn't tempt changes that push more player freelancing.

First- After a month off the Beav's lose to a top 10 team. Kind of expected.
Second- After seven games of staying in the zone and watching seven teams score record amounts of threes it seems like the coach needs to rethink this strategy.
Third- Rebounding was a little better, but still needs major improvement. Hate to say it, but to some extent it just seems like a lack of effort.
Fourth- Mack and Savannah came to play today. Be nice if Savannah could hit more than half of her FT's though.
Fifth- Just like the Oregon game, got rattled at the end of the 2nd quarter and they let Arizona get a big jump. Seems like SR could call a time out during these runs and reset the team.
Sixth- Assuming our top two scorers don't go 2-20 we can hope the next game goes better.
