Colorado was pissed coming into the game. There are times the most dangerous team to play is the one who is coming off of an embarrassment like they had in Eugene. But the best part of the game for the Beavers, only 10 turnovers. And I'm surprised OSU only had 10, with the way Colorado had their hands active and pressuring on D.

Good job isolating out the one shooter who was knocking down shots and showing how poorly the team has been shooting from 3 recently. That's certainly what I thought I've been seeing.

The Arizona trip is the worst travel trip in the conference. Weird things happen in the desert.

Aleah bringing up the ball is affecting her offense imho. Hope the 3 ball comes back for them. Great game by destiny.

qbeaver - if winning (or losing) is the only way by which you assess a game, or a team, your powers of basketball assessment are pretty meagre... The issue being raised by several here on the board is not whether we won the game, but whether the team played like an excellent team, like a team that might win the Pac, a team that might make the Elite Eight or even the Final Four. That's the plan. The plan is to play excellent, technically sound basketball. The plan is not merely to get a W against one of the weaker teams in the conference - at home. The win today is great - downright essential....But I'm sure Coach believes his team did not look excellent in any phase of the game today..Basically, a performance of today's calibre rings up a loss against Arizona, UCLA, Stanford, and Oregon. That's NOT part of the plan. The plan is to play like a winner. The 1st quarter today was atrocious and this makes 3 of 14 games (Liberty, BYU, Colorado) where the Beavs started with a thud. A big thud. Not a good sign. Not the end of the world. But not a good sign. Not when you have standards of performance beyond W and L. At any rate, the Beavs gritted out a tough win today and that's a plus....but I'm concerned how they won it, especially since the victory came against one of the weaker teams in the conference........ GO BEAVS My basketball knowledge is far from meager. I've played and coached the game... My point is the expectation of this team by some is to be a well oiled machine mid season. Really? We have two new starters who are freshmen who have to play with three vets and play cohesively together. I get the need to amp up your game starting next week-end because the Arizona schools are very competitive as are Stanford,uo,Ucla, etc in the best wbb conference in the country. I want us to go through the pac-12 season and it be a learning experience to prepare us for a final four run and a National title run in the end. We aren't playing our best right now,but we are winning...that is the goal. It doesn't have to be a Picasso every game...if that is fans expectations, then that is rediculous. We are a work in progress...

The conference season,in my opinion,is to prepare the team for post season...im sure coach Rueck feels the same way. The team is elite and the expectation is a potential final four run. Did anyone notice that the Los Angeles trip last year or the year before when we got hammered by Ucla,Scott wasn't too worked up over the loss...it was a learning experience. We did,and we're a better team because of the lessons we learned. I want us peaking in March...not January.

I didn't catch it initially, but just saw the post game on court interview w/ Jordin Canada and Slocum (it was during the Pac 12 highlight show of all the day's action). Destiny pretty much said what I've been saying, they play really good in stretches and really bad in stretches, and I think her exact words were "great teams play great all the time," difintely that they need to be more consistent. I don't think I'm being too harsh if I'm saying the same thing they are about themselves.

Was at the game today. Colorado is no slouch--they were extremely physical from the tip. Our freshman were not ready for the physicality, but, they did a great job today adjusting. Our freshman are special. Right now, defense is winning games for us, and, I think we will continue to improve defensively. I never felt any panic at the game today. Not like last season where we had so many games that were tense beyond belief--ASU, @ Arizona...there were many. This team plays with confidence. Destiny Slocum is an AA--she has been terrific all season, and is playing outstanding basketball. Kat Tudor was shooting 3's in warm-ups, and missed more than half of her shots, even air balling 3's. Kat is having some mental issues with her shot right now, and is in her own head. Coach pulled her because she was getting down on herself. Her teammates were trying to encourage her, but Kat was really struggling. Like a golfer with the shanks, or putting yips. This was a great game to prepare us for the road trip. I'm so impressed with our freshman BIGs--they are getting better every game. The officiating was not good today. The Pivec block was right in front of me--an amazing defensive play stolen from Mik. Hopefully, we don't see that poor of officiating again. Kat and Aleah will get it back this season, and when they do, watch out.

OSU would love to have the opportunity to win their way to the Final Four without leaving the state.

Am I imagining things, or didn't OSU experiment with a bit of pressing in some OOC games? Maybe even during the NIT. That just dawned on me. I know forcing TOs has never been Rueck's M.O. on D, but Colorado only had 5 today. I wouldn't mind seeing something, if only briefly, to make the other team a bit uncomfortable.
Unrelated, but I don't think this has been stated yet--Mik played all 40 minutes today. Iron woman.

I looked at box scores for opponents TOs. Today was a season low. Missouri St. had 6. Several have been under 10, or low teens. A few in the 15-17 range, including Utah in the previous game.

We had a bad game. The buffs had a bad game. The officials had a terrible, horrible, very bad game. Normally the video board doesn't replay bad calls but today if they didn't show them they would only have a couple plays the entire game to show.
I really like the general lack of recognition the girls show to bad calls. They just bite down and work harder. The last couple games, when a call was questioned it was Aleah asking for clarification. A call was even reversed Friday.
I'm not sure when I've seen a game with so many layups missed, if you add in the 10 foot and shorter shots it was even worse. Good thing we have a strong defense, we needed it today.
