So, since the writing is on the wall for the Pac-whatever, does the conference just dissolve or do they reinvent themselves by keeping OSU and WSU and filling in the lost schools with other ones to get back up to 10 or 12? If the Pac-12 falls below six teams at any point, the conference dissolves. The conference survives, if six teams remain at every point. They should be chasing down the 3 likely additions and UNLV and get them to sign, immediately. That'd potentially keep a couple teams home. Then fill in when it all skakes out.

I don't buy that the vultures are circling. No one is citing anything, just a bunch of hearsay and inuendo. Well the big10 issued a statement saying they are circling (and prepared to lowball uo and uw): From the link The Big Ten Conference is still focused on integration of USC and UCLA, but it’s also the commissioner’s job to keep chancellors and presidents informed about new developments as they occur,” the Big Ten said in a statement Wednesday. The Big Ten has been reluctant to add more schools because they won’t increase the value of the seven-year, $7 billion media rights deals with Fox, CBS and NBC that begin this season. Expansion into the Northwest could provide some increased value to the Big Ten Network, one of the people familiar with the situation said. Annual payouts by the conference to Big Ten schools through the length of those deals are projected to reach over $60 million in just television revenue. Total conference payouts could reach $90 million per year. By comparison, the Big 12’s recently agreed to extension with Fox and ESPN is projected to pay its members about $32 million annually. Any additional Big Ten expansion could not come at the expense of current member payouts, one of the people familiar with the situation said. “It would definitely be a considerable reduction from the current rate,” the person said. But even a reduced payout from the Big Ten could top what the Pac-12 schools are likely to receive from their current conference under the Apple TV deal or what’s available in the Big 12.https://apnews.com/article/pac12-big-ten-conference-realignment-oregon-washington-3962aad7adbe38feb97e31eac895dd2e

Lol... did I state the B12 was a power conference? Did you read my last paragraph? My response is rankings don't determine media deals. And, the B12 at 13, 14+ teams brings more eyes and a market that watches more football. And, they were smart enough to extend their current deal not start from scratch. And, I do know which area the media, hence advertisers, want to spend their $. Have you seen who and how much the B12's supposed extention is worth? Then look at what the Pac 9 has in hand? I don't want to argue. Sorry if you took offense. I was simply trying to add some industry insight. PAC 12 has bumbled this. The BIG12 media markets aren't as valuable. They simply struck at the perfect time and the PAC 12 has handled this foolishly.

We gotta figure out how to convince the B1G that us and Wazzu are better for them than Stanford/Cal We are. But we also are not.

Time for remaining calm passed a long time ago…. OSU … I love ‘em…. But is soooo reactionary. Never looking forward and what is best for athletics and the school. And here we are now. Hate to see it.

Beavers only pawn in game of life. You can't go anywhere if no one has invited you. It will be what it will be, I have no say in the matter. OTOH, I've been to several MWC football games, had a great time, they have bands and fans and beer and tailgating and mascots and cheerleaders and dance teams and their fans loved their school as much as we love ours. If that's what it comes down to, I'll still be there.

The following clip is dedicated to all the power brokers who are killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Yes, it's on Apple TV, Yes, it's that other football. No, it really isn't about money for everyone.

If the remaining nine all push and or partially subsidize apple subscriptions, maybe that number grows very high. Think alumni, ticket holders, and students. Of course we have no idea what the contract structure may look like.
