Banks not very happy with her team. Love how well Rueck is consistently able to frustrate teams with taking away strengths. I suspect he has taken a few early game individual explosions a bit personal. Miami is supposed to have very good guard play along with their skilled big, and nothing went well. I don't think any coach is better than Scott at making half-time adjustments. Period

With respect to Brown. Players need to recognize when their shots are not dropping and not try to attempt to shoot their way back into sync. I know they tell shooters to keep shooting, but this team has enough people who can knock down the outside shots. Kennedys shots were just not dropping she was even missing her free throws. Its a matter of adjusting to a team that does not rely on her for scoring. A lot of players coming out of high school have to adjust to that. Especially when you are on a team filled with scoring talent. I know Scott probably wants her to take open looks, but with plenty of time on the shot clock, you want to get it too players that are hot to take those shots.

What Scott said in the post-game was that Brown was the most developed defender he has ever had come to OSU. As well as Jones has played (all props to her) it is Brown who Rueck keeps on the floor. Against one of the best posts in the country Brown played 36 minutes and was the player most responsible for slowing her down.

And playing defense against that quality of player - takes it out of you on offense. I am impressed with how both Brown and Jones get up the floor as well as how they catch and pass in traffic ! The only thing I am a little nervous about are the slow starts . With some elite teams - that could wear us down !

Tomorrows 11 am game against Liberty should be a 50 point blowout. Liberty is pretty dreadful, with a 2-5 record against average to mediocre teams. I hope Morris and all the bench players get a lot of PT.

Katie Meier, Miami coach had some very high compliments for OSU. Loved that she stated "Mikayla Pivec is as good as she has seen"

411500 I suspected so. Ron doesn't always post all of his interviews... bummer. The press conference from Miami was rather telling. Thanks for sharing stump.

One of the reporters asked their coach why they scheduled OSU (kind of in the way you’d ask a coach why you’d sign up for getting spanked - they come to Corvallis next year). The answer was basically that scheduling OSU is a yardstick game, and a way to prep for what they see in the NCAA tourney. That’s a pretty cool reputation to have as a program - it requires consistent excellence to have that reputation from a scheduling standpoint.

One further thought: I don't know Texas A & M's schedule for this week, but they were just a few points ahead of us in the AP poll. I would think a 22 point road win against a top 20 team in the eastern time zone should catapult us by them when the rankings come out on Monday.
So, in the first 6 games, we've played two top 20 teams and a sweet sixteen team from last year, and beaten them by 21, 22, and 11. Only 1 team (Missouri State) has shot 40% against us (they were exactly 40), and our worst has been 47.3% (also against Missouri State). Couldn't have drawn it up much better.

Almost makes me want to cry for the Miami girls cuz coach was almost to brutally honest. She said stuff like play smarter or couldn’t do your jobs, almost be consruded as being a bit of a put down of her kids.

Thanks for the link. Enjoy this while it lasts. A number of earlier games posted to YouTube were ultimately blocked after a few days up.
