Westbrook is listed as 6 foot. Assuming that to be accurate, she could play either the wing or the off guard position, leaving the primary point guard position to Van Lith. If Destiny goes pro after next year (which I don't personally think will happen), Aleah becomes the primary point guard in her senior year, Westbrook steps in at either the 2 or the 3, as both Kat and Mikayla will be gone, and Van Lith backs up both the 1 and 2 spots, taking over the point after Aleah graduates. That's pretty much the same situation she would find herself in whether Westbrook comes here or not, so I don't see this negatively impacting her college choice. Quite the opposite, actually. This adds a very highly skilled player to the roster she would be joining, and makes us more attractive.
If Westbrook would only be here for 1 year before going pro, however, I wouldn't take her. That's just a slight variation on the 'one and done' theme that has ruined men's basketball (and the NBA), and I wouldn't be interested in any player who simply wants to showcase his or her individual talent for 1 season as a methodology for becoming a high draft pick.

We were in her final choices. However, she pulled the same crap that queen i did the year before and the most recent #1 recruit did this last year ( although not to the extent of this last year's). Waiting until everybody else signs and then having a big "look at me" affair days or weeks later. This type of player is not the usual beaver. Besides, look up the box score of the LaSalle South Salem game. Aleah was able to shut Evina down. I like the point guard we signed Aleah must be the most overlooked recruit in women's basketball history. Every game she has played she's looked like the best player on the court. At this point I will say she's the player in the team. The Tres Tinkle of the women's team. Maybe better. Kelly Sopak (sp?) her club coach was amazed at her relative low ranking coming out of high school and came out publicly saying she was "the steal of her class". She was rated around 64th, there is no way there are 63 other sophomores out there better than she is. Kelly has coached and coached against some of the best in the last several years, he knows what he is talking about.. Her senior year she led the charge for LaSalle to take down not only South Salem, #2 in 6a at the time, but also 6a champion Southridge.

She was # 63 on Hoopgurlz, actually, so saying 64 is close enough for government work. If memory serves, Washington got a pretty good player several years ago who was also ranked about 63rd - Kelsey Plum. That same year, Scott got Sid, and she was ranked about 80.
So you never know. But "the steal of her class" is certainly an apt description for Aleah. She can flat play with anybody, and she has 2 more years to improve even more.

Well sh*t, I played at both Gill and Dixon. I even had a one on one meeting with coach Miller in his smoked filled office. "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink". Where's my varsity jacket. I once played softball against Brent Barry at OSU. Can I claim a softball AND a basketball letter?

My wild guess is that making fun of her father isn't a great way to convince EW that OSU is a great place to come play if she were to choose to switch schools.

A transfer normally needs to sit out a year when transferring, does it make a difference if Warlick is fired? If the school changes coaches does that eliminate the one year wait?
Just checking.

Aleah must be the most overlooked recruit in women's basketball history. Every game she has played she's looked like the best player on the court. At this point I will say she's the player in the team. The Tres Tinkle of the women's team. Maybe better. The beauty of this season's Beavers women's basketball team is that different players have stepped up at different times and it is not simply about limiting one OSU player in order to get a win over the Beavers. I understand blastingsand's enthusiasm above for Goodman's outstanding play of late, but it would appear that he/she has a short memory. Goodman struggled with her shot and getting significant minutes out of the gate this season. Her performances against Cal Poly, Duke, CSU-Baskersfield, the first WSU and UW games, Arizona, Arizona State, and Stanford are not consistent with what blastingsand has written above. If you need a refresher on how each player has played in all 28 games this season, you can access all of this season's box scores using the following link: static.osubeavers.com/custompages/WBB/teamcume.htm?path=wbball&path=wbballFollowing perhaps her worst performance (0/7 from the field with no points scored and 4 turnovers) of the season against Stanford, Goodman has been very clutch in important game situations of late. She didn't shoot well (3/12 from the floor) during the recent home win over USC on February 22, but Goodman did hit an important three-pointer down the stretch to provide some much-needed separation in that game. My purpose with this post is to point out that expressing "best player" opinions isn't really productive in an environment in which the bottom line goal is the team winning, Every one of us has an opinion as to the relative value of the contributions made by the OSU players. Some posters tend to have shorter memories than others.

Really Sad. it really hurts for You to be right. people can read these Boards. It is not for You to criticize Her Dad. You have a real problem with kindness. Sick of many of You. I root for OSU . I want success. I don't go on and on with threads that are becoming stupid and pointless. Again I am ashamed of people like You.

So, USA Basketball gets the school wrong on Evina's dad's bio - and we have to go off and make the dad out as a sitcom fraud. So classy.

Evina’s mother, Eva Westbrook, put this on facebook: “Sonya Howell you won't have to worry about my daughters poor performance and all the negative things you have to say about a 20 year old student athlete for long. Honestly what type of person, an adult, talks about a young lady that gives 200% to her team every day? You know nothing about my daughter and you have no idea what you're talking about. Any D1 school would be happy to have her. Learn some facts before your twitter fingers get the best of you. Oh and thanks again." Many of their fans believe Evina will be gone after this season. Do you guys think Coach Rueck would go after her? Sure would be a plus to the backcourt. I’m sure she’ll do what is best for her. I doubt it will coincide with OSU WBB’s future plans.

So what. Are You just anal or what? You are rude and apparently can't show kindness or restraint. For a Beaver Fan I am very disappointed in Your Negative jibberish.
