Evina’s mother, Eva Westbrook, put this on facebook:
“Sonya Howell you won't have to worry about my daughters poor performance and all the negative things you have to say about a 20 year old student athlete for long. Honestly what type of person, an adult, talks about a young lady that gives 200% to her team every day? You know nothing about my daughter and you have no idea what you're talking about. Any D1 school would be happy to have her. Learn some facts before your twitter fingers get the best of you. Oh and thanks again."
Many of their fans believe Evina will be gone after this season. Do you guys think Coach Rueck would go after her? Sure would be a plus to the backcourt.

We were in her final choices. However, she pulled the same crap that queen i did the year before and the most recent #1 recruit did this last year ( although not to the extent of this last year's). Waiting until everybody else signs and then having a big "look at me" affair days or weeks later. This type of player is not the usual beaver.
Besides, look up the box score of the LaSalle South Salem game. Aleah was able to shut Evina down. I like the point guard we signed

Not basing this on any “inside” knowledge - and we don’t even know that she’s transferring - but if so, don’t be at all surprised to see her go the ducks. If the “I” takes her talents (and attitude issues) to the WNBA, I would say that the chances of that would even be better. Evina removed the ducks from her shortlist 3 years ago when they learned that Sabrina was playing there. The family had enough her SI when they played together in AAU to know they didn’t want anything to do with her. That could be mitigated by Evina having to sit a year (providing that transfers still must do that) Evina is actually a really nice person. Katie loved playing with her and told me that she wished we would have gotten her to begin with. Since they played for Katie’s dad a couple of years together, she would know and that’s a great reference. It’s true that her parents can be...uh, interesting. Not Lavar Ball interesting, just very engaged and opinionated. I didn’t see what UT’s coach said, but I can tell you that I watched Evina a bunch, and effort and being a good teammate are certainly not in question.

I'm sure that SR would consult with Katie Mac before doing anything. Katie and Evina played together at S. Salem.

Scott recruited her hard once. No reason to suspect that he wouldn't reach out to her. The family already has OSU ties - Dad played here. If she transferred, she'd almost certainly lose a year and end up a year behind Aleah and Destiny, which really would be perfect.

It would work out quite well to have her redshirt when Kat and Mik are seniors. She would likely play the 3 instead of the 1 (which she plays at UT) with Destiny and Aleah at the 1 and 2. Would be a very dynamic back court, plus our front court should be very much ready to go.
Of course the family raises some red flags, but they can’t be happy at Tennessee. It is a complete mess down there.

I know that her Dad says that, but I've looked through media guides and his name is not listed under all-time players. Does anyone know when/if he really played here? I certainly don't remember him. Update- I found out his age and looked up all the rosters from that era. James Westbrook is not listed on any of them.....Does he mean he played at Dixon? If so, I can now say that I played basketball at OSU.

I have never heard or seen him on a roster - would think late 80's-mid-90's? If he played, it's probably similar to a teacher I had in middle school who said her husband played for the Oakland Raiders - found out later that he had a tryout. That's not the same thing lady!!!! And if you've seen how The Hoop Salem embellishes their web-site, that's par for the course. There are about 10-12 NBA'ers listed as Hoop Salem alumni.

Sonya Howell is some random facebook poster. Thanks. I didn’t really even pay attention to the name. I just assumed that if mom was that worked up, it would have been because of Evina’s treatment by someone who matters. Other than Destiny, not much is said to call out a player’s play on here other than that they had an off day, and women’s players are pretty well treated with admiration. Posters here are pretty soft on the criticism. Even the occasional jab at her is mild compared to most boards.

She saw how two Oregonian girls had their talents wasted at Tennessee in Russell and Nared and still followed them there.
She created her own drama a couple years ago with her signing. Drama seems to have followed her east. I'm not sure she wants a structured team, she went to Tennessee to have freedom on the court.
When Destiny decided to transfer and contacted Rueck he told her to make sure she wanted to be a part of the team, not the part of the team. I'm not so sure that fits with Evina.

Maybe that's what he means when he says he played at Oregon State.
