2021 6'1" G top-10 Payton Verhulst was invited to the 2019 U16 USA Trials. She has OSU written all over her IMO!
Yes folks, Kennedy Brown's mother did congratulate Payton on her invite, so hopefully she will be talking up OSU to Payton for the next few years. Her sister, a 2020, is already committed to K-State.
Among other 2021/2022 recruits who seem likely to be invited: Addison O'Grady and Timea Gardiner have both participated USA Trials in the past.

Interesting that Katie F, who was already following Payton and her Dad on twitter, just started following Quinton Verhulst on twitter. I believe Quinton is Payton's older brother. (there's something like 7 kids). One thing about Katie, from everything I can tell, she is really good at getting to know, and becoming friends with, the families of those she recruits. Katie seems to be real genuine, and I hate to think about the day she moves on from OSU.

Katie preaches family. She interacts with these young ladies so well, I almost think she becomes a "big sister" figure to them. She is much more than just a basketball coach to these girls - she is a life mentor. From this article: "To Keith Jones, her relationship with Taylor and the bonds Coach Baker has built with his family is unlike any of the other programs. "I've told Scott this, Katie Baker is worth her weight in gold. Her ability to recruit and talk and get down on their level, to develop a bond where Taylor looks at her as a sister almost, has been something she's worked on for nearly 2 years now. They (Oregon State) just out-recruited everyone else. They built a relationship with her, and Scott did with us, they really learned everything about our family. From Taylor's twin sister, Tori, her older sister who just finished her freshman year playing basketball at Southern Utah, and then our older son. They really took the time to get to know our whole family including Taylor's mother and my wife. The whole program has been there steadfast for Taylor as her mother battles lung cancer. Katie and everyone else always ask about her mom and how she's doing and you can just tell how much they all truly care. I know that has really helped Taylor a lot." Would be no surprise if she is treating Payton's family the same way. Early on, it seems Payton is likely the top-target in the class of 2021. Fits the mold of an OSU WBB player perfectly. A backcourt of Verhulst, Goforth, and Van Lith, Bueckers, or Clark would be really good. I am sure Kennedy and family will be talking OSU up to her. I hope von Oelhoffen is a big target too. She can really play and is already close with Taylor and Kennedy.

Our coaches do a phenomenal job of recruiting. Now they appear to be getting a lot of help from not only past, present, and future players, but also some parents like Danika Brown. She has talked up the Beavers on her Twitter page and also makes very positive replies to other recruits.

Two new 2021 names: According to this article, the first is Julianna Walker, a 5-6 PG who attends Annie Wright HS in Tacoma, WA. Walker averaged 33.9 points and 6.7 steals per game as a sophomore, but were tops in the state of Washington. In her freshman season, she averaged 35.2 points, 9.3 steals and 5.9 rebounds per game. She has hit 279 career threes in 2 seasons shooting 44% and accumulated 1585 total points. She has taken unofficial visits to Oregon, Oregon State, and Washington, and has been on the radars of Texas Tech and Gonzaga for quite some time now. Interestingly enough, she prefers the Big 12, and Texas Tech is the current fromt runner. The second is Jersey Wolfenbarger, a 6’2” combo guard out of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Wolfenbarger’s Northside HS team recently won a state championship, taking down Goforth’s team in the semifinals. The two will be playing AAU ball together this summer for the Arkansas Banshees. Wolfenbarger’s current front runner is Arkansas.

beaverwbb fan - - nice find on "almost-local" star in the making, Tacoma's Julianna Walker....Great academics, great everything.... We'll have to monitor her summer ball to see how she performs against better competition than she gets in her 1A league... Anyone who averages 30+ per game as a Frosh and then again as a Sophomore obviously has basketball skills...
Not sure where she gets this I wanna play in the Big 12 stuff - maybe family connection, maybe IB programs....who knows.... We'll see what happens when (if) Stanford comes calling...
Whatever the case, we will certainly be hearing more about her in the next few years.... Good find......

Top 2021 target Payton Verhulst’s sister, 2020 Ashton Verhulst, reopened her recruiting after previously being committed to K-State.

That's interesting. Wonder why she changed her mind.

That's interesting. Wonder why she changed her mind. Another program started showing interest, or she got a better offer. Or she realized she doesn't want to spend four more years in a place like Kansas.

Her coach better get her working on that left hand...A lot of her dribble penetration will end only in tears if she releases every time with her right. But, you gotta admit she looks pretty darn good for a kid you hasn't yet started her Junior year in high school.... Has she indicated any interest in OSU?

But, you gotta admit she looks pretty darn good for a kid you hasn't yet started her Junior year in high school.... Has she indicated any interest in OSU? A few things could help us out here: 1. Talia traveled to Italy with Taylor and Kennedy this summer. I’m sure those two will be helping the staff recruit her this summer. 2. I have seen her interact with Jamie Weisner on social media, so perhaps that will help too.
