I read an article in a yoootah rag yesterday. The reporter was told beforehand that he should stick to the warm, fuzzy, homecoming aspect. Andersen would not be answering any questions regarding his colossal failure and subsequent departure at OSU. Story was about how happy he and his family are to be back home and how great it is to "get the band back together"..........gag/puke..... Gawd Awful Gary, there is a whole lot of quit in that boy..... Go Beavs!! The fact they have a gag order on the time at OSU tells me there is something they are trying to keep under wraps. If not, all he has to do is man up and say "I failed, I left because I was in the way. It was me, and the kids deserved better" That is even something halfway respectable. But dodging the entire thing means they don't want people digging. There is a lot of rumor out there. most of it crazy and some clearly not true (i.e., the messy divorce angle, impregnating a cheerleader and other bulls%#t like that). Of course walking away from guaranteed money is not normal. to walk away and not talk about it? even more not normal. It tells me OSU had the ability to fire Andersen for cause, and instead allowed him to resign and everybody is keeping quiet. I do think there was a little scandal of sorts. I have some suspicions... but nothing more than that. The rumor that always made the most sense to me was that he was pulling a Sark... Pressure got to him, his drinking increased to include at work (Drunk on the field during a game is the rumor I heard)... I have seen plenty of good folks fall victim to it in the private sector... Also makes sense with the radio silence following, he was in some sort of rehab... Also makes sense of his texts to Canzey, they certainly seemed similar to some of the drunk texts I have gotten from friends (wrong, badly typed message to the wrong person)... If true I will give him credit for "taking his medicine" like a man and leaving without a fight, unlike Sark...

Jan 4, 2018 12:00:15 GMT -8 Jerkalotopus said: That's next level hate over a loss in the first game of the season. Utah was 8-5 in 2006 and unranked going into 2007. They followed up a loss to us with another loss to Air Force. At home. A 44-6 win over a vastly overrated 11th ranked UCLA (they would go on to finish 6-7 and fire Karl Dorrell) was followed up by a shutout loss to UNLV, 27-0. They would then rattle off seven straight wins before losing 17-1 to BYU in the last game of the season. If you can come up with any justification for Gary Andersen placing a 24-7 loss on the road to OSU over losses at home to Air Force, a shutout at UNLV (who finished 2-10 for God's sakes), or an end of season Holy War loss, I'm all ears. The loss to us did not derail what was supposed to be a dream season, it did not end up preventing them from some sort of Mountain West glory, and it was the first time we'd played Utah in fifteen years. This revenge theory then speculates that seven years after that loss, he left a perennial top 15 program (although it is likely he was going to be on his way out there anyways knowing what we know now) to take the job and torpedo our program? He waited seven years! That's like movie level revenge.....you killed my father and I've been waiting and training for a decade to exact my revenge type stuff. I'd be curious to know what these quotes were that you heard that made you think that specific game burned in his ass for so long. All I remember him saying was that he came here for that game, we handed it to him and he left thinking it would be a place he'd like to work. It is totally next level hate if true. Stranger things have happened that's for sure. Your recap misses a few key points which put some perspective on the games following the OSU loss. Utah went undefeated in 2006 and 2008 and had Utah beat OSU to open 2007 there's a good chance they go undefeated that season as well. And now for the rest of the story. They encountered more than just a loss to OSU in the opener however. Not only did OSU beat them by pounding the ball on the ground against GA's defense for over 160 yards, OSU also knocked out Utah's QB Brian Johnson and star running back Juco All-American Matt Asiata with a broken leg. Asiata was lost for the season, Johnson for two games. The loss crushed their hopes of an undefeated season, but losing two key players in the process cost them a lot more than just the one game. As for the quotes I can't remember what he said exactly, all I recall was there were a couple different times he said some things that made it pretty clear if you were listening closely the 2007 OSU game made a lasting impression on him and something about the way he made his statements gave the impression he hadn't let go of it. lol All I know is, as crazy as it might sound that a coach would deliberately sabotage his own program I remind myself how much crazier sounding things happen on a daily basis. For example would anyone believe you if you said two heads of state were engaging in a public twitter war over the size of their nuclear warheads launch button. I mean seriously think about that LOL. There's a lot of weird s%#t that goes down.

Utah did not go undefeated in 2006. They did in 2004, Urban Meyer's last year there.

congrats Gary and best wishes. I have no doubt you will find success with the UTES. Willingham knows football and knows you will contribute significantly to his team. We can only hope the administrator of the Ute board knows you will be able to contribute significantly to their board now and you can spread your love of the quitter over there! Don't u have anything interesting to say. I know you are from Klamath. Just think real hard and you can come up with a relevant opinion

No one walks away from 11 mill for no reason. Without enhanced interrogation we'll never know.

Apropos of nothing. I watched a movie called Appaloosa recently. Ed Harris is a dopelganger for QA. I'm like...no wonder he walked. He's got Ed Harris money

Convenient to coach at Utah. Won't be making a trip to Corvallis until either 2020 or 2021. I wonder if he'll still be around by then, or will he bail in the middle of the night?

The judge has spoken and it hurts coming from someone as prestigious as you. I think i can eventually get over it though. Klamath beav needs a chat board body guard. I'm glad you are there for him. I typically take on that role when we attend games together and it can become tiresome.

I did the "thumbs up"... but, does that mean he's now the best at something? Cuz pretty sure I can't go with that 🤣

You can't expect him to have a lot of time left to contribute in a meaningful way.

Quite impressive indeed and "that says something". If you can't handle someone wishing a former coach success in his (or her, just being inclusive) future endeavors you're quite childish but still great posters.
