Defensive assistent/associate head coach per football scoop.com. Our loss is Utah’s loss. Our loss?? It's our GAIN he's gone... their loss. 😁 Posted... before seeing Wilky's

Whittingham said in the Oregonlive. "he is an excellent recruiter and motivator and understands what it takes to win at this level." REALLY?? Not at OSU Wow...now that there is straight out of “The Dummie’s Guide to Coach Speak”. That sentence had a lot of cliche activity going on. There would definitely be nothing to support any of it from his stint here.

When is Whittingham going to hire someone that can figure out offense? It's amazing how consistently strong they are on defense, and yet 9 offensive coordinators in the past 10 years has led to one awful offense after another. My Ute coworker has lost hope in ever seeing a competent offense in SLC. On every staff there is a clear focus. Utah's focus is definitely on defense, so what you end up with is a situation where they take most of their talented 2-way potential athletes and steer them toward the defensive side of the ball. It's not all of them, it's just a clear lean/tendency that winds up having the net result of being dominant on defense and inconsistent on offense. That’s for sure. The highest example is Bama, which has a stable of 4 and 5 star talent that primarily matriculates to the defensive side. I can hardly stand to watch them on offense, but even in “down” years for their D by their own other-worldly standards, they are ferocious, with a bunch of freakish guys. Their D-linemen run can bull-rush and pound people to stiff the run, or they can run people down sideline to sideline. Whittingham shares Saban’s philosophy...the difference is that he does it with athletes who are a notch below. The ceiling for them is apparent against elite offensive personnel, but they are always solid on D. Im addition, while Saban has plenty of top flight athletes on offense to make people pay in the second half of games, the “dregs” on Utah’s roster that comprise their offense on most seasons will almost never have significant success against a stout defense.

I wonder WHAT he'll have to say to prospects considering both UU and OSU? Mondo Bizarro....and NO....NOT The Ramones '92 album. Which sucked. JMHO. Anyways....I'm sure he'll receive a "fitting welcome" when the yoots come to Reser. I DEFINITELY want to kick their asses now, MORE than ever.

I'm simply "hoping" he works out as well at yootah as he did at OSU. Period.

Actually.... while I don’t like the guy.... With Lane Kiffin as OC, Bama was pretty good on O.... and entertaining..... now.... not so much.

We can only hope the administrator of the Ute board knows you will be able to contribute significantly to their board now and you can spread your love of the quitter over there!

Awesome. Andersen now has a job as an associate head coach.
For some time now, ever since Andersen packed his bags and bailed out of the mess that his overwhelming ego created, I have been worried that my harsh criticism of him may have been over the top because the guy may have been suffering from some type of mental illness. I mean, honestly...what kind of crazy does it take to text criticism of your assistants and players to one of the (the?) biggest jackasses in the Oregon media when you know he is the type of guy to spill into the public forum what really should be private matters?
Now, any guilt or worry about the harsh criticism that I have doled out to Andersen is completely assuaged. Surely, if another Power 5 football program is going to entrust him with a chunk of its program, even make him the associate head coach, then any fears of mental illness are gone. Now I can comfortably sit back and feel no qualms about putting that guy through the shredder.
And rest assured, I will whenever his name comes up. He deserves it. He tanked our program, and badly. Two of his three years competed, record- and statistic-wise, with the worst teams that OSU has had in modern history in terms of bottom of the barrel ineffectiveness. His arrogance compelled him to rip the program apart so he could build it in his image, as if he was some football god descended from Olympus, and that kind of hubris crushed the program. Now, our new coach is in the difficult position of trying to restore the program from the ashes. I think Smith can do it, but Andersen didn't make things any easier.
So glad he is Utah's problem now.

Going back to the part of the discussion on D, notice that the ONLY Pac-12 team to win a bowl game was Utah. So much for O in these times. Want more D? Three of the four teams in the national championship semis were powerhouses on D, one was known for their O. Guess who lost? The O-focused team although they did make it exciting. Right now we are seeing college ball looking like a Steelers-Ravens game from the early years of the last decade.
What I find ironic about this current cycle is that the college football rosters are loaded with QB's who could do very well in the pros.
Chip Kelly got Oregon to a close but no cigar deal with his sped up spread. Now that every team which has a decent D has figured it out, what is the Next New Thing that will sow confusion on D and let the O's carry the day and grab the title? All I can say is "Stay tuned!" as I have nary a clue as to what to do when it comes to college ball.

So glad he is Utah's problem now. Gary Andersen should be vilified by Oregon State fans until the white hot heat death of the universe. Don't you dare ever tell me to let it go. or to let the past be in the past. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Gary Andersen destroyed Oregon State to a degree that will take years and years to recover from. Gary Andersen essentially robbed Oregonians and Oregon State fans of millions of dollars and provided absolutely nothing in return. Nothing is better for his presence and all aspects of Oregon State was harmed by him. Smith has a real tall order on his hands. I think he is the guy to do it. He was the first QB to be a winner at Oregon State in a generation. He will be the head coach to fix the mess that Andersen made.
