After the snub by MLB......guess I don't know what to expect out of Luke this coming weekend. Maybe he decides to forego the supers and CWS and I wouldn't blame him...he put a lot of effort and dedication this year into trying to get past what the Oregonian and Danny Moran did to him last year.....all to no avail it seems like. Even the people on this board said very little about his draft status during the actual draft days. I hope the young man finds the courage and conviction to continue on being the person he is.......he will succeed in life ....so kudos to you Luke. Congrats on what you've brought the Beavers in your career...I wish you the best.

I have been greatly affected by the book "Just Mercy" by Bryan Stevenson. It has completely changed how I think about capital punishment and the justice system, but it has also made me reflect on how we treat people accused of some crime or another.....from a book summary: Stevenson realized for the first time that his life was full of brokenness. He worked in a broken system of justice where his clients were broken by mental illness, poverty, and racism. Stevenson felt that he does what he does because he too is broken, and that he can’t fight a broken system without being broken by it. But Stevenson then reflects that we are all broken in some way; we’ve been hurt by others and we’ve hurt others. There is common humanity in this brokenness, as the quotes Paul Farmer once quoting Thomas Merton: “ We are bodies of broken bones.” Stevenson says, “Our shared vulnerability and imperfection nurtures and sustains our capacity for compassion.” We have a choice to either embrace our humanity and compassion or deny it. Stevenson then reflects on what he often told his clients: that each of us is more than the worst thing we’ve ever done. Someone is not just a liar, just a thief, just a killer. Understanding our common brokenness creates and shows the need for mercy. Experiencing mercy opens you to see things you otherwise can’t see by recognizing the humanity in all of us. In reflecting on this, Stevenson feels stronger. Not much compassion in the system for Luke. Go Beavers!

Luke is by far among the best of OSU beaver pitchers in Casey's coaching era, or some could say Luke is the best pitcher ever in all of OSU baseball history. Tbh I think Luke should seriously sue the hell outta Danny Moran and the Oregonian.

I would like to know who leaked it to Moran. I’m guessing the nieces’s mother.

I would be happy if the cries of moral outrage on both sides were dropped in favor of the aforementioned cries of our shared Humanity. Luke is an example of many things to many people, but the one person that he has to be a true example to is himself. He's got nothing to prove to any of the rest of us, just himself and I hope that and pray that the proof is in the pitching and how he lives out the rest of his life.

(Where's his name in the Moran article) How about the cop who set up the sex offender sting operation?( After the Oregonian made some phone calls) Why don't the O.S.P. know when he registered as a sex offender?(They have s%#tty record keepers) Why are Oregon sex offender registration laws "ambiguous" ? How many other out of state sex offenders were wrongly ticketed in the Benton County sting operation? But hey Luke "should've known".

I would like to know who leaked it to Moran. I could be wrong, but I believe how the story came about was when either Benton County or City of Corvallis f'd up and issued a citation for not registering his address. The problem was, he was not required to register for two reasons as I remember. 1. He's not an Oregon resident and that law didn't apply to him. 2. More importantly he had served is probation period anyhow by that time, his record became sealed, and that concluded his legal obligation to register, he had no further obligation under the law at that point. The citation was eventually thrown out as a result, but the damage was done.

Luke its Luke and certainly in the top 5 with another chapter or two to be written. But, behind in some "stats" or not, no one has come close to what Nickerson accomplished and how he finished his career. Luke wins 3 more starts and this team gets the trophy it'd be a "tie" in my book.

In no particular order, Nickerson, Dallas Buck, Kevin Gunderson, Jorge Reyes, Joe Patterson, Matt Boyd, Ben Wetzler, Andrew Moore, Heimlich...and that’s just off the top of my head. I’m sure I’m missing several others. Heimlich’s season last year though was just ridiculous. Watched him pitch at Stanford and he was lights out. Just hasn’t looked the same to me ever since this came out (and understandably so).

I would like to know who leaked it to Moran. I thought it was just an internet search. If Moran and Oregonian hadn't wrote the story it would have come out anyway.

I hope when Luke steps on the mound for the start of his final game at Goss, the entire crowd stands and gives him a very loud and very long ovation. Show him that at least we at OSU appreciate, understand and care about him.

Came across an interesting post under the latest Deadspin article about Luke: deadspin.com/1826621285A fairly detailed account/timeline of the custody battle between Luke's brother and the accuser's mom. I don't know what, if anything, this means. You can read into it whatever you want. I just wonder about the veracity of this account and where the poster on Deadspin got it.

I have to say that I don't think ESPN did Luke any favors with their full screen "info graphic" on the situation. MLB owners have to deal with established stars who have proven themselves to be scum bags and the fall out from their actions while under contract.....makes them shy away from a yet-to-be established player who might be a potential lightning rod for all sorts of social activism. At the end of the day, it is a business. And Danny Moran will probably claim "absence of malice", though I beg to differ with the Oregonian in general: (video for those of you not born yet when the movie I am referencing came out) Go Beavers!
