Let me take the unpopular side. I'll guess that many of you don't appreciate NFL players taking a knee during the anthem and think that it is perfectly fine for NFL teams to not sign Colin Kapernick even though Kellen Moore and something called "Joe Callahan" have NFL jobs. The MLB teams also have the right to judge the talent and determine if the talent overcomes the distraction. So far all the teams don't think drafting a pitcher who pled guilty to a crime of injuring a child is worth the distraction. A man took a knee during a song (I'm a Army vet btw it just a song) and many have no issue running him out of the professional sports. Have some perspective, and take off the Orange glasses. The fact that people outside of Corvallis aren't outraged by this should maybe tell you something. Just a song? So the flag is just a piece of cloth? Well, kinda yeah. It is a symbol of our country and it is important. But in the big picture, it is a piece of cloth... just like hundreds of other countries on this globe have. But lets not lump the flag... which was officially recognized in 1777 (the first one, that is, of course) with the National Anthem, which while written in 1814 was not recognized as our "National Anthem" and codified (36 USC 301) until 1931. kind of like "In God We Trust" was not our national motto until 1956, in response to the Red Scare

Ya know, just think about this, if Danny hadn't snooped around for news to bash against the Beavers, Luke would be the 1st pick of the MLB 2018 draft. He would be getting endorsed left and right by companies as the most praised ace pitcher from Oregon State! And a gem among of the MLB pitchers. Yeah Luke's past could possibly be brought up later by a reporter snooping around looking for dirt, but hey, Luke would have been a 1st round pick for sure if Danny Moran hadn't been looking for something to stab against the beavers baseball. Sooo... Luke seriously needs to sue the hell outta Danny Moran and the damn Oregonian!! No, he wouldn't of been the 1st pick of the 2018 draft, but he would have went in the first round of the 2017 draft.
Not sure why everyone thinks you could sue Moran or the Oregonian. What would you sue them for? Once he was cited (mistakenly) and then the citation dismissed, Moran just delved into the WA public records which were not sealed. You can't sue someone for finding out information that is public and publishing it.

Danny Moran, whose job literally is to report on the Beavers, goes looking for a way to make his job infinitely harder by alienating himself from the entire university.

I think Luke should sue the hell outta the MLB, Oregonian and also sue Danny Moran for possibly personally running his pro baseball career. Luke is a friggen ACE pitcher, every team in the MLB is a driven dumbs%#t for passing up on ACE pitcher!! Seeing Luke not get drafted pisses me off so much, God I hope to Hell, Luke or someone sues the s%#t outta Danny Moran, for running Luke! 😡🤬😤😤😤 It's important to note that the background check Moran did and court case files and details that it led to were all publicly available at the time, and EVERY MLB team does a background check on it's draftees, especially the expensive first few rounds... There are plenty of reports (and I verified this with at least one scout at the regional game) that most of the MLB teams knew about this whole thing without Danny's infamous journalism... That doesn't mean he wouldn't have been drafted and stashed until the record was sealed in August, but the teams knew. Danny certainly made it PUBLIC, and helped kick off the PR disaster, but I bet even without that Luke would have had a "surprising" drop in the 2017 draft... And of course another team could have leaked the info if a rival had taken Luke high... The whole deal was a bit of a poison pill from the start. Danny threw a whole bunch of gas on the fire, but the coals were already smoldering nice and hot... Also, I totally agree with biggieorange, it was totally reasonable and within their rights for the MLB teams to make a business decision and skip Luke 80 times (2 years, 40 rounds each). I think it is ludicrous to think they were doing it altruistically like can-o-crappo does... Just like not giving Colin a contract was within the NFL teams prerogative (although the response from the NFL to the anthem protests has been brain dead and tone deaf...)

Jayce Easley has signed with the Rangers. Not really surprising, and a good decision, half a million bucks is a lot of money... signed for a bit over slot: $500,000, Pick Value: $347,100

Sounds like he wants to play in the Minors instead of in the NCAA.

Dad's probably told him that in his judgment, he's going to be making that much a year by the time he would have been a junior at the university, so a few years of 1200 bucks a month and bus rides seems worth it.

Who knows how much of his dad's earning are left, and having a dad who made it to the majors probably increases his desire to match it, so might as well get started. 500K is just way better than the partial scholarship from OSU... Most clubs put tuition into a contract for High Schools anyway, so he will probably still get to go to school free. As much as I love the Beavers.... get specific instruction for the MLB team in the minors is probably better than riding the pine for a year and learning to bunt from Pat Casey

Damion Easley did make it to the show for 46 games in what would have been the equivalent of his SR season in college (he spent 1 year at a JC and 3 in the minors before getting his first taste) which is pretty amazing for a 30th round draft pick.

Some kids aren't college level students. Having to go to class AND play baseball is tough enough. If you're not the greatest of students, don't like school that well... signing was always the goal.
Good luck
