It really doesn't matter if the front office believes the story or not. They are at the mercy of the general public. The general public doesn't bother to know the entire story, or even that a juvenile sex offender is completely different than an adult one. They read the headline and want him dead or in jail. They would picket, pressure sponsors, and it would turn into a media circus. The negatives outweigh any positives that they would hope to gain. I'm curious if this will hurt Casey's reputation recruiting. There is a lot of hatred out there for Oregon State and Casey for playing him. I'm sure some parents may say they don't want their kid to play for him. Probably depends on if they are willing to hear and believe the whole story. Might actually work in Casey's favor too...loyality, second chance, fairness, etc. I'm willing to bet Casey would do it again. Any parent that is honest remembers being 15 and making a mistake that they are glad didn't surface. Latest research shows the male brain isn't fully mature until 30. I grew up in a small town in Oregon, I can't even imagine the ill advice and atmosphere that Luke went through. Probably just wanted it to simmer down and did whatever necessary to make some sort of peace. He's spent the last 7 years learning from his mistake and being a model citizen. Is he just suppose to give up because half of society doesn't believe he deserves it? We will hear and see it on the screen every time Luke pitches.

To Sabzi- What's hilarious is reading a post from someone that is obviously missing out on any semblance of common sense. Karma is knowing that you hold grudges because your life has been a total flame out. Go back to your spot under the rock.

Absolutely hilarious watching team after team pass on Luke. Karma is a bitch. You’ve got a perverted sense of humor. And that’s not a compliment. yeah, he needs to move to Texas and root for the Rangers. Certainly not a Beaver fan

Absolutely hilarious watching team after team pass on Luke. Karma is a bitch. since i'm not totally sure if you mean karma for the mlb for their secret gentleman's agreement to ban Luke i'm going to assume you mean it's hilarious in the way that getting your car towed on xmas eve is hilarious (true story) or hilarious in the way getting malaria in Germany of all places is hilarious (true story). i would like to think you arent actually gloating.

For an example of the backlash the GMs would face look at the message board for the last team we faced. Over the top and not a lick of sense. None of them read anything beyond the headline and the slurs came out hard and in full throat. If anyone rose in defense they were shouted down with another slur It would not be hard to see a social media campaign against a MLB team that stuck it's neck out. I think it might be effective at the margins. 5-10% drop in sales. Pickets at the ballpark on Luke's night to pitch. It could well turn into a circus atmosphere. Esp in the #metoo era

Let me take the unpopular side.
I'll guess that many of you don't appreciate NFL players taking a knee during the anthem and think that it is perfectly fine for NFL teams to not sign Colin Kapernick even though Kellen Moore and something called "Joe Callahan" have NFL jobs.
The MLB teams also have the right to judge the talent and determine if the talent overcomes the distraction. So far all the teams don't think drafting a pitcher who pled guilty to a crime of injuring a child is worth the distraction.
A man took a knee during a song (I'm a Army vet btw it just a song) and many have no issue running him out of the professional sports.
Have some perspective, and take off the Orange glasses. The fact that people outside of Corvallis aren't outraged by this should maybe tell you something.

the social justice warriors got their pound of flesh from Luke. but there's more work to do for those self righteous A holes. there are approximately 50,000 registered sex offenders in Oregon and Washington. statistically 40 % of them are child molesters. I'm sure they will be just as concerned that none of those people get a second chance at life and the ability to pursue their dreams. Yeah MLB Owners and GM's are such a bunch of flaming libs. Can’t figure out how you got there!

BTW, Kellen Moore is a QB coach for the Cowboys, now. Not a player.
And as for the Eagles Callahan (state of PA local boy) ....
Way to completely miss my point. However the fact that those 2 don't have as much talent combined as Kapernick does just proves my point. The talent doesn't outweigh the distraction. You think any MLB GM wants to field questions about juvenile sex convictions?

What if he’s telling the truth? About what? About his pitching philosophy, and different approaches with certain batters. What do you think we’re talking about anyway. Don’t be stupid.

You think any MLB GM wants to field questions about juvenile sex convictions? I didn't miss any point you were trying to make (and failing to, by your examples used, above). KC didn't have enough talent upside or he would've at least have been signed by some team (non-guaranteed contract) by now. He and his agent were making too many unreasonable demands at the outset after he opted-out from SF (who was going to cut him, anyway, before the next season). He has only himself to blame.
Then, after he dropped his agent and his GF became his "advocate", well ...
Your still too dense. I'm not arguing that CK deserves to play or that the owners should be forced to take him on.
