Yeah Mulholland didn't have that snap to his curve and its slider like he normally has. It's going to be interesting going into the regional and Super Regional we know we have to win 3 games in the regional and we got to find somebody who can win that third game

I don't know if someone is better, but when you can see they aren't effective or throwing strikes, you bring in someone else to change it up. Eisert was available. Nathan Burns was available. Mulholland should have started the eigth but came in with two on and nonbody out. Too late.

We didn't deserve to win this game (pitching, pitching, pitching). What bothers me is how we lost. C'mon BEAVS

Mulholland rt ten a little spotty, so thahas be have started the eigth but came in with two on and nonbody out. Too late. Christian had pitched well, but pulling after the first guy was probably the best move in hindsight with Mulholland so fresh. That was a tough call. Eisert has been spotty. Lots of tough decisions no decisions.

We didn't deserve to win this game (pitching, pitching, pitching). What bothers me is how we lost. C'mon BEAVS Probably should have won again today, but ‘furd showed their mettle and we won the series. I greedily hoped for the sweep today, but if the Trees had gone belly up again, I would have had a lot of questions about that team. Winning the series is what it’s all about. Mission accomplished. I don’t think the loss costs us at all in a bid to be one of the 8 nationally seeded teams. Either way, winning the remaining series 2-1 and taking care of San Diego will still get us a top 8 seeding in the tourney, and would have been necessary even with a sweep this weekend, IMO. Great job, Beavs!

But the Beavers brought in their best set-up guy, and he didnt have it today. The very good closer slipped. I don't know who else would be better than the Pearce and Mulholland. I don't think it matters if someone else may not have been better. You said it, the setup and closer didn't have it. Especially your closer allowing a homerun to tie then loading the bases then giving up a bases clearing double. That is way too much trust in your closer.

It’s concerning heading to post season. One, two of the 3 and 4 guys have to step up BIG TIME if we can realistically expect to get to Omaha and have success. I know; Captain Obvious

Our closer also cost us game 3 at Arizona. I had a funny feeling the way Stanford hit Mulholland hard twice to end game 1. Seems he either has it or he doesn't. If I were Casey and he didn't have it he'd be on a short leach...except he might be our best. Someone has to step it up in the BP.
We might get to Omaha with this pitching staff, but I'm not sure we can win it unless we find a 3rd starter and someone decides they want the ball in the late innings

Maybe Yeskie should have come out with a pirate hook.

He said if a guy isn't throwing strikes it is either because he isn't good enough to throw a strike or it is because he is afraid.

Actually, there are nine ways to score from 3B. Base hit Steal Balk Squeeze Wild pitch Sac fly Passed ball Error Base on balls What about fielder's choice? Catcher's interference with the bases loaded? (OK catcher's interference is technically an error on the catcher) Hitter batter with the bases loaded (technically a walk, but slightly different than a traditional walk)

Actually, there are nine ways to score from 3B. Base hit Steal Balk Squeeze Wild pitch Sac fly Passed ball Error Base on balls Only 7 (the squeeze would have to be for a bunt single/base hit) with 2 outs and runners on 2nd/3rd... which would have been the situation with a 1 out sac bunt. So... hit, steal, balk, WP, PB, E, Def Interference (not considered an E)

On the Joe Beaver Show today, they spent a good portion of the second hour discussing fan conduct at Goss. Evidently someone in the Stanford dugout gave a one finger salute to the crowd after Sunday's loss, to which Parker said the reports he heard were that "our fans had it coming." They played a clip from Pat Casey from earlier in the year where he was asked a question about fan support and he kind of said unprovoked "we try to treat the other teams with respect and we hope that our fans behave in the same manner." Made me wonder if perhaps PC has heard from opposing coaches that our fans (maybe specifically behind the first base dugout) have been particularly nasty.
Have things gotten that bad? Given that we just had an incident during women's basketball with a fan apparently yelling something inflammatory at a USC women's player, are we starting to get a reputation of a place that mercilessly taunts opposing teams? One caller today gleefully recounted how badly we "got in the head" of #26. I'm not sure it's any sort of a badge of honor for a man in his 40s or 50s to heckle a 20 year old. He also said that "the goal" of the fans is to "get as close to the line of unacceptable comments/behavior without going over." If that's the case, I would say that a middle finger from the dugout is probably a pretty appropriate response.
Having not been to a baseball game this year, I was just curious if anyone else had noticed fans going over the line of acceptable behavior. I'm sure it's not the majority of people, but is it more than in past years? More than what you hear at other schools when we go there?
