Took me a while to come around to it, but I hope the deal makers can pull a rabbit out of their hat and he's the guy. If he stays 4 years and lands a bigger gig so what? All that will mean is that he turned the Beavers in to winners.

I've been on board with Kiffin for some time. He is probably the only "proven" coach OSU could get because of his baggage and reputation.
Seems most in the need a proven coach camp have been against Kiffin as well though.

I would love Kiffin, even if it was for only 2 years. Players love him, and he’s learned a lot being Saban’s coordinator for 3 years. He compares that time as getting another degree in coaching. He would bring a big attitude adjustment and be an instant improvement in recruiting. He’s done a remarkable turnaround at FAU in only 1 year.
I place our odds at 1%, but who knows? I read an article that his kids live somewhere in the west coast. That might be the only advantage we have other than being a P5 school. Put a sizeable buyout in his contract Of 4-5 million if he leaves before 4 years.
Edit: Scoop reporting Tennessee and Greg Schiano are in final negotiations. Kiffin had openly expressed interest in returning to Tennessee, which I don’t think was realistic, but one SEC opening closed. Although if UF gets Mullen’s, would Miss State be appealing? I’d hope they go for Taggart.

Would any other P5 team take him?? If not then maybe he'd be open to it. OSU > FAU

I don't think OSU would even consider Kiffin so all of this is a moot point.

I just don't see Ed Ray being open to a coach with "baggage" and a guy who had to take a pay cut in order to get a HC job has baggage. To me, its a great match. Coach looking for a way back into the P5 ranks (and a raise) who is one of the best recruiters in the nation. But I think Ray would nix Kiffin without even considering it. Just my guy feeling.

If I remember right, St Dennis had baggage also
I would be happy with Kiffin, the SC game might be real fun

Not a real high character guy. Who cares? Do you want to win? Erickson wasn't considered a "high character" guy. I want a guy with an edge. OSU needs a guy with an edge

OSU needs a guy with an edge So all you care about is winning? At any cost? Where do ya draw the line then? Everyone wants to win bud! But being clean and competitive is good to me. If you have to be a dirtbag to win, that doesn't workout to well. There's 2 types of class; First and None! I prefer to be First! *See college basketball's recent debacle Go Beavs!
