I think Kiffen knows that if he spends another year or 2 where he is and stays clean and wins big that good jobs will start to open up. He is young and can afford to be patient.

Took me a while to come around to it, but I hope the deal makers can pull a rabbit out of their hat and he's the guy. If he stays 4 years and lands a bigger gig so what? All that will mean is that he turned the Beavers in to winners. WTF has he actually accomplished in his career to date? He's thought highly enough that both Pete Carroll and Nick Saban hired him as their OC. Has won 9 games at FAU this year. FAU had won a total of 9 games the 3 previous years before him. Well documented that last year, Saban actively lobbied for Kiffin to get a HC gig out of fear he would accept an offer from Orgeron to be LSU's new offensive coordinator. Saban did not want Kiffin on a rival sideline. Some quotes from Administration at FAU speaking very highly of him: Here's the article, which impressed the hell out of me www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21493936/florida-atlantic-coach-lane-kiffin-having-fun-now-winningDr. Kim Dunn, FAU's faculty athletic representative and associate professor of accounting, is the one who looked up Reardon's phone number and connected the two. Dunn concedes that she wasn't a big fan of Kiffin's when he got the job. "I felt like he was going to make my job more difficult, the whole social media perception of him, and I thought he would only care about football," Dunn explains. "But from day one, he showed me tremendous respect and appreciation." During the summer, a couple of football players weren't taking their academics seriously enough, and Dunn fired off a note to Kiffin. "The next day, he pulled them out of practice and sent them to study hall," Dunn recalls. "The Lane Kiffin that I've gotten to know cares about the student as well as the athlete. I was set not to like him. That was the impression that I had, but I think very highly of him. I think he's brilliant -- and not just football brilliant. I don't say that lightly, either. I work around some very educated people, but Lane is one of the most brilliant people I've ever met, just his ability to sit in a meeting and contribute in a meaningful way and take away the most relevant points." FAU's President: "This is great, better than I'd even imagined," says a beaming Kelly, who came from Clemson's faculty and saw what Dabo Swinney did for that campus. "If I'd known it was going to be this good, I would have hired [Kiffin] sooner." Kiffin's impact has transcended football. Case in point: Kelly notes that FAU's out-of-state applications for the 2018 fall semester are up 35 percent. "And we haven't done anything else differently, so it has to be Lane," Kelly says. "He just gets it, both as a football coach and being able to attract attention to our university."

Ask yourself why FAU's president and AD are touting a current employee with what are effectively personal references that would help if he wanted another job. The most likely answer? They're still feeling the need to justify the hire even with all the success on the field.

Why would they justify a hire that is supported by their fan base and has won as many games this year as they have in the last three years? There's nothing for them to justify. I would argue they made positive comments to shove it in other people's faces who didn't give him a chance. Even if he leaves in a year or two, he's leaving FAU in a much better place for their next coach. He's acted immaturely in the past, but some people out there act like he's a convicted felon or something. Edit: With your above post, I agree that him coming to OSU is highly unlikely. I just think it'd be a great hire at this point.

What has he done at FAU they are defending/covering up?

I would love Kiffin, even if it was for only 2 years. Players love him, and he’s learned a lot being Saban’s coordinator for 3 years. He compares that time as getting another degree in coaching. He would bring a big attitude adjustment and be an instant improvement in recruiting. He’s done a remarkable turnaround at FAU in only 1 year. I place our odds at 1%, but who knows? I read an article that his kids live somewhere in the west coast. That might be the only advantage we have other than being a P5 school. Put a sizeable buyout in his contract Of 4-5 million if he leaves before 4 years. Edit: Scoop reporting Tennessee and Greg Schiano are in final negotiations. Kiffin had openly expressed interest in returning to Tennessee, which I don’t think was realistic, but one SEC opening closed. Although if UF gets Mullen’s, would Miss State be appealing? I’d hope they go for Taggart. I'm pretty sure L.K. takes an armed posse along if he gets anywhere near Tennessee. They almost torched his house when he left. I really love the Willamette Valley but, when you become a bit older, those palm trees sure look good, even on their kind of 'different' campus. Don't see many Palm Trees or Bikinis during our monsoon season. It would be different and interesting with a personality like L.K. in Corvallis. I'd vote for him. Heck, he would probably even win a few games. It would probably take a Bay area or So. Cal. type job to get him to leave FL.

Can you imagine OSU allowing him to bring in Kendall Briles as OC (with his current implication/lawsuit into Baylor rape scandal and accusations of using sex to recruit?) Can you see OSU being ok with having 3 people on his staff with NCAA violations? Can you see OSU being ok with him trolling other D1 coaches along with the POTUS on Twitter? Can you see OSU being ok with going after recruits that are academic and behavior casualties at other programs to build the talent level? Yes, he's find a way to win, but OSU fans would need to promptly drop the 'holier than though of the south' that so many seem to value, because it would be complete hypocrisy at that point.

Those are good points. The only one that says no to me is Briles, I admit didn’t know that. Disgusting and unacceptable. 🤔🤣I don’t think you can troll Trump on Twitter... he’s the biggest twitter troll/insecure child in existance.

What has he done at FAU they are defending/covering up?Since he's single I don't know if it would be considered good, or bad, but he's probably got more 'of age' co-eds after him than Avazzzzono.

OSU would 100% be fine with him throwing Twitter jabs at 45.
