I feel that singling out Stevie for defense is counter productive when we do not have anyone on this team that is an above average defender. I'm fearful that this team is going down the same path as CR's teams. In the first couple of years for both coaches, the focus was on defense and a methodical offense. They both overachieved with the talent that they had in the first couple of years. Then, when better athletes were recruited, both coaches allowed their players to go more up-tempo and they lost their defensive focus and intensity. An over simplification maybe, but I think both coaches lost their identity of defense first/toughness when they got higher profile recruits to come on board. It seems in both cases they were successful coaching up 'potential' in less celebrated players who truly bought into the coaching staff. Once the higher rated recruits came aboard it was like they have both placated to an uptempo style and the players have far less regard to coaching. It is also complicated by the fact that now the higher rated recruits are also sons of the coaches. The tail seems to be wagging the dog now. As I have said previously... I do not like the "feel" of this team and their level of "coachability". I'm hoping for, but really don't see it happening, good results in this little tourney.

Just wondering if anyone here has ever played for your dad, would absolutely be shocked if the coaches kids were not held to a significantly higher standard than the rest of the players. I can almost guarantee they are much harder on them than rest of the team and unlike the rest of the team they are going to when they are not at practice. This is from experience.

I played in HS for my Dad and he was definitely harder on me than other players. The question on this board seems to be regarding ST. It is a different scenario when your Dad is a Head Coach, versus an assistant coach.
I do think a lot of this has been blown out of proportion due to some hearsay from one of the players on the team. We may be reading too much into this information. I know that when I played sports when my Dad was coaching, I knew he was harder on me....but, no matter what higher standard he held me to, other players always assumed I was getting special treatment. It is sometimes a no win situation when you play for your Dad.

Regardless of who anyone’s dad is, when a player isn’t hitting the ocean from the row boat, he needs to either come out of the game or stop shooting outside shots. Thompson really cost us vs Wyoming

Meant my post may be overly simplified... so I guess we both basically over simplified???
