Six different QB's have started for Oregon State under Gary Andersen, during his current 27 game tenure.
Three of those 6 Qb's are no longer Beaver quarterbacks.
I think what we're seeing here is a dysfunctional football staff that is not communicating well, offensively or defensively. We are getting blown out worse than our relative talent should permit.

I think what we're seeing here is a dysfunctional football staff that is not communicating well, offensively or defensively. We are getting blown out worse than our relative talent should permit. there is an abundance of red flags around everything. But the QB position and its failures is the poster child of the failure of Anderpants. Step back and think about it. We have had a new QB every 4.5 games. what has me FIRMLY in the fire him now and move on camp is that he continues to say "we have a proven process, we don't need to change" and "we will make a few minor tweaks, but we won't do anything drastic" It just sells me on the notion he can't see the forest for the trees, he cannot admit he is blowing it with these decisions, he cannot admit he needs other people to do it. Barring injury or unforeseen issue, this is a year that SHOULD of had a QB in the 3rd season of an offense that he now knows like the back of his hand (Del Rio, or hell even Seth Collins... or whatever other QB you identified to grow with...) this we should be enjoying a Junior or Senior leader in a resurgent season with some key pieces like strong running backs and a good blend of veteran and and new talent WRs... But we don't have it. We have yet another QB learning an offense, making late decisions and inaccurate balls because our Genius-in-chief Gary Anderpants decided a JC transfer QB that demonstrated questionable ball handling and decision making in the passing game was a better call than returning experience. Just like he decided halfway through 2015 to bench his true freshman QB and kick him out of the position. I am not saying Collins was "the answer" but hell, he gave him zero change to develop and improve as well... All of it stinks. all of it shows rash decisions, lack of thought, lack of deep consideration. All of it is knee jerk reaction thinking. Then there is the defense...

I have it on pretty good authority that the locker room as a whole was pretty unhappy with McMaryion's handling.
Baseba111's post in another thread with a quote from Angie is telling. We have a morale problem.

We have a morale problem. We have an outright mutiny potential if you ask me. Maybe not Lavonda Wagner bad... but bad. If nothing changes. I would expect a large quantity of transfers in the off season.

That could entail a lot or nothing of consequence... not sure I want to see the beat down as I'll be there in person?!

Technically, he'd be doing something "drastic" if he beat a D1 team with a winning record...although by season's end I have a feeling that we'd be happy beating anyone, even one with a losing record again!

But, the message board here is comparatively tame to some other people I guess!! That's all I got... and being I'm comletely unsure what that emtails if anything... that's all I got!!

But one should not poo-poo the idea entirely. College football programs are not exactly CIA level clearance ya know? One of the major "flaws" in the design of the system here is that the football program uses a HUGE amount of student workers. There is a lot of minimum wage labor that makes the program go, and student workstudies get the brunt of it. Everything from janitors to laundry workers, to highly competitive internship positions at athletic trainers or sports media spots go to students. Everything I know about the drama of the Quizz years with Riley was this kind of connection. A person literally in the locker room post game, every game that was not a player, but a worker in some capacity. There are more people that you think hanging around the locker room and practices. and as I learned from my years working at HP, if you REALLY want to know what upper management is doing, talk to the janitors. They know everything. All I am trying to say is, It isn't as unreasonable as one would think to get an inside peek. Many times where there is smoke, there is fire. sometimes the exact details are a bit off, but the general message is true.

I have always been a pretty vocal GA supporter, but also said if he screwed McM in favor of Luton then we will regress... Always, always, play the hot hand, (as in, the only kid to beat the dorks, win a PAC 12 game, and not turn the ball over), since Riley switched from Double Mint to Big Red. GA has lost the team and his mind.... HONESTL, might as well put Collins back at QB and run a wishbone. FML

Turn the ball over in the CW*, don't need the stat nerds to jump all over McM's learning curve.

The QB I hand picked turns out to play like butt, and the guy who replaced him and played the only competent QB in my tenure? Let's put them in an open competition in Spring/Fall. THAT won't cause anyone to question my sanity.

All of it stinks. all of it shows rash decisions, lack of thought, lack of deep consideration. All of it is knee jerk reaction thinking. Then there is the defense... One reason I am an advocate of firing Andersen as quick as possible, and certainly no later than by the end of the season, is timing.
He gets fired after the WSU game...we have a bye week in which to get the interim coach going for the rest of the season.
If we have to hang on until the end of the season: We should get it done this year because of the small recruiting class that we are expected to sign. As I understand it, these are the remaining seniors:
Thomas Tyner Xavier Hawkins Garretson Landry Payne Villamin Trevorris Johnson Jaylynn Bailey Kyle White Porebski Wesley Payne Philip Napoleon Paisa Savea Titus Failuga Baker Pritchard
It should be a small recruiting class this year. Every year that a new coach is brought in there is always the specter of a poor recruiting class because the new staff comes in so late in the recruiting cycle. This could be the best year for it: A small class is expected, and the disadvantage that a new coach will have in recruiting can be masked by the small size of the new class.
And...Good Lord! please recruit some DLs!! Pronto!!
